I'm hoping to run 128gig of RAM on my new AMD 5900x system. Some of the video software I use like DaVinci Resolve and MTI Cortex would really benefit. Does anyone have any advice or recommendations? Or is it maybe not a good idea, and better to stick to 64gig? My motherboard is the MSI MEG...

Best budget headphones I know of are the Samson SR850 (open back) or SASR950 (closed back). Both really amazing for the price (around £30).

It will probably be fine, turn-based strategy games don't really need high frame rates so you will probably find that it plays fine even if you're only getting 30-40 fps.

I believe they have a UK based customer service / RMA centre, which is ofcourse great. ...however they are not as well regarded as EVGA, and you get varying reports of product reliability and customer support experience.

Personally I would just go with the cheapest one I could find that doesn't use a blower style cooler if you aren't planning to watercool (as long as it has favourable write ups). If RMA / warranty is important to you though, I would definitely recommend EVGA.

I would look at the Oppo PM-2 and PM-3 since you have a good amount to spend.

If you do a lot of encodes then the nvidia option is probably preferable. However, as has been stated Mercury engine playback is usually smoother via OpenCL (AMD).

Gigabyte are useless, I had to RMA an Osmium keyboard for repeat-keying, and they tried to refuse to honour the return, blaming "the manufacturer of the faulty keys" (Cherry) ?? Had to rely on the Rainforest to push it through... thankfully they have a very powerful returns team, so eventually...

Grado's are worth considering if you're looking into open backed designs.

Zotac AMP Edition. Gets very hot (peaked at 84c during Timespy). Boosts to around 1960 out of the box. Will look into custom power and fan profiles since 84c seems a bit too hot really. Great looking card though, pretty happy overall.

Hmm I have some headphones with that type of jack design, and they both work when plugged into computers using the 3.5 jack. Does the 3.5mm jack work in any other devices? EDIT: Sorry, didn't read your OP fully. I would just go use the jack converter you mentioned.

Those Beyers, while great, are all hardly what I would call lightweight. Most gaming headsets do tend to be fairly bulky though... I would recommend the modmic too, then you can find a good quality set of headphones that suit you, as well as having a high quality microphone.

If you don't require a microphone, you will get much better quality audio with dedicated headphones. Open backs generally offer the best quality sound, you could look at some Grado's or Beyer DT990's for example. The downside is that they offer no isolation from outside sounds, so you really...
