    Folding@home news 14th - 21st March 2013

Yes I've also looked into that getting 4 x 6172 from USA via bay. Motherboards are hard to find though and steep  Also struggling to find a suitable case for mobo to go in. Then there is the issue of what o/s to use for a 48-core monster. (or 64-core if you get the newer 16-core Opterons)

    My i7 3930K 3.20 OCing Follow Along!

AI Suite II 1.02.11 here and my VCORE temp reading sits just below motherboard reading. Strange as yours seems to be missing loads more readings compared to mine.

    Quad Socket Monster

Mobo was around £650 mark PSU another £200 Ram was £21 per 2Gb (would need 16 x 2Gb) so further £336 So £1186 without an o/s or case.

    Quad Socket Monster

Well the cpu's have arrived from the seller in USA :) (no thanks to FedEx!) Been looking at this and it's gonna cost me at least further £1200 to get rig up and running - that's despite an IT mate of mine in London who can get the mobo and ram at cost for me - so getting cold feet on the...

    Quad Socket Monster

Well I've got hold of 4 x Opteron 6166 HE processors - yes they only run at 1.8Ghz each but they are 12-core and have TDP of just 65w. Looking for suggestions on mobo, cpu coolers, ram and psu Probably going to get the Lian Li PC-90B case

    Quad Socket Monster

Thanks Biffa - so I could buy just 1 cpu and then add others on later - interesting. What I have realised is that for a 4-cpu setup I would need Server 2008 as Win7 has a 2-cpu limit. Also on memory, Win7 Pro supports (I think) up to 192Gb ram but Server 2008 only 32Gb before you have to...

Got 2 nice rigs at work now set to run early hours of the morning (for 7 hrs) - both rigs have dual Xeons so with HT that's 24-cores x 2 which should help us along for a while :D
