    Official Home Gym Building Thread

My advice is to buy horse stall mats! They are bloomin' brilliant and I got two large mats (check my pics) for 80£. I can mop them, hose them, heck power wash them once a year.

@LiE love the panelling, you've gone above and beyond there! I'll get some pics of my setup there .

I finally got my rack and I'm very impressed. The M200. Have to say it is a really solid piece of kit. My gym space is coming together nicely! As a side note I am somewhat shocked by just how expensive fractional weight sets are!

    *** Nintendo Switch ***

Yes the speakers is a good idea. It would actually be his first foray into online games so would definitely supervise. Just rather play with than watch :p.

Might not be the best place for this Q but would people let their 8 year old play Lego Fortnite in sandbox mode? I've read CSM and it seems like Sandbox mode would be ok. He's desperate to play it as friends at school have it.

    Passport renewal

Yes we had to renew the boys passports before we go abroad for summer - as they expire every 5 years - and I was super impressed. It took 2 weeks start to finish, and that included a third party verifying their likeness.

    Mowing the lawn

I mean we found no bombs digging ~300mm down. Fingers crossed :D.

    Mowing the lawn

Might have to take the effort to put a french drain in under the middle of our garden. It used to be an air raid bunker and the soil is just so heavy and compacted that even when we rotivated it and dug in improver its still a bit of a boggy mess when wet and doesn't grow too well. Going to...

    Grief & Loss

It truly is a personal loss and honestly theres nothing you can do but ride it out. Not in a "man up" sort of way but you've no other choice. It never goes away, but I've found the sheer, mind numbing, paralysing episodes are significantly fewer. The regrets now are more sadness at missed...

Power Tools & General Tools Recommendations & Advice

Its easier to cut a straight light with the pistol grip jigsaws as you've got a better hand position. But I have both :p.

*** The Official M5 MacBook Pro thread (it has the M5 chip and everything!) ***

Ok interesting so I don't need the pro chips as I wont be doing any intensive graphics work. Development wise its scala, flutter, c#, sql, Cosmos, Spark, large databases. So I guess it comes down to a question of portability and if I really need that, or if I can save a bit and just get a mini...

*** The Official M5 MacBook Pro thread (it has the M5 chip and everything!) ***

I am considering an M5 as a development machine. The benchmarks look pretty good, and the cost with 32GB of ram seems ok to me. Am I best waiting for the M5 Pro series to come out though? Apple are unlikely to discount the current M5 I assume; I just can't help but wonder if I'd be annoyed with...

Spotify Hi-Fi lossless is (finally) here!

My account got upgraded to lossless last week and since it's happened I noticed my phone battery has been absolutely destroyed by Spotify. Has anyone else found this? Its at 90% of the battery usage, and the battery lasts well under 6 hours. Its an iphone 16 pro so its never been brilliant but...

    2.5GB Home Network Upgrade

I'm not sure about Hik-Connect but can't see why it would be any different - use Tailscale and install the app on your home, its really straight forward and iirc still free for personal use. Well, that or use Unifis VPN (Teleport) directly back to your gateway, thats just as straight forward...

    2.5GB Home Network Upgrade

If you isolate it from the internet, you can access it remotely but afaik you'd need a VPN or something like Tailscale or a cloudflare tunnel. If you want to VLAN the cameras off from your local network (highly recommended) and NOT have it accessible remotely then its rather straight forward...

*** Official Ubiquiti Discussion Thread ***

Because I dont want to walk into an install without knowing it'll work. I could just recommend the NVR but its massively overkill, not to mention expensive.
