***The Officially Official 'Rugby League in 2023' Thread***

Going back to League? Let's hope so, it's the only way he'll get dropped from the England team. League seems to be more forgiving of head contact than Union too, so his tackle technique might fit in better!

    The England Cricket Thread

I'd class it as a good result if England win more than two of the games in the series. They've got a very inexperienced team, and you could make the case that the Australian Women's team is the best sports team in the world based on their results in the last 5-10 years. If I look at the two...

    Platypus' Beginners Guide to Running

A cycling cap might do the job, a smaller brim and can be tilted up if necessary.

    Platypus' Beginners Guide to Running

I didn't run it myself, but my brother did Manchester a couple of weeks back, which he enjoyed. If you've got people who would watch it's a good one too, as you can get round on the tram network and see the runners in a few different places. Might not be quite what you're looking for, but it'll...

Should women's sports have separate websites on BBC Sport, Sky News, etc.?

I'm starting to think you're being deliberately obtuse now. If you had any interest in cricket you'd know that the Men's T20 World Cup was held at the back end of last year, so it's hardly likely that there's another one already. Plus the men's team are playing a Test series in NZ.

    Road Cycling

If you have tubes with removal valve cores check there's no leak there. I've had that quite a bit with Continental tubes, and a quick tighten of the core solves the problem.

Just to check, you're not wearing anything under the shorts? If you are, that's going to cause a few issues!

My theory on Gel packs - am I correct in what I think is happening?

They probably aren't as slow releasing as bars, but not all that dissimilar to gels I'd expect as the latter tend to be faster absorbed. I'm caveating this a bit as I'm a cyclist rather than a runner, but I've done 4+ hours on jelly babies plus carb drinks with no issues. Little and often is the...

My theory on Gel packs - am I correct in what I think is happening?

There's also the option of a few jelly babies or similar - while a lot of the carbs are sugar, that's not all that different to gels and things. Probably easier to eat than bars if you've no liquid to hand. I've used bars and jelly babies on long rides, although this has the advantage of...

Spectator advice for Tour Of Britain

I've never driven to watch, but always ridden as there's more flexibility to be on the course - I'm sure I've been able to ride it 10-15 minutes prior to the race coming though. Are you close enough to ride there? Plus, if you're going to a KoM it's always fun to compare the speed you'll ride up...

Should women's sports have separate websites on BBC Sport, Sky News, etc.?

So focus should only be given to peak ability? So no focus on football below Premier League for example? More exposure to women's sport will lead to more investment and more women and girls playing sport, which will raise ability, which is a good thing according to your criterion.

    ***UEFA Women's EURO England 2022***

If you assume that investment will also increase as a result of the success of the England team that can only increase in viability too.

Should women's sports have separate websites on BBC Sport, Sky News, etc.?

We get it, you don't like women's sport, but I'm not sure it needs you to necro your own thread everytime there's something you don't like on the BBC Sport website.

I suspect that if you're doing that with so little fuelling you're very well adapted to fat burning during exercise rather than a lot of people who are not and hence need to fuel from carbs?

    Race reports

That looked brutal, barely any break from the mud at all ! Would be interesting to see the numbers, I suspect there wasn't much or anything below threshold HR. How did you get on? Did I spot you being lapped just before the hurdles on lap 5, looked a bit like your club kit from the pics above?

Bike lights for daytime use - any recommendations?

Not sure what your budget is, but I've used Exposure Trace and TraceR for years. Easily removed from the bike and recharge using USB. I've never had cause to use it, but I believe their support is pretty good too.

    Pro Cycling Discussion 2021

Yeah, I tend to see it as an excuse for a day off work and a ride out with mates. If it's a normal road stage then it's all over in a couple of minutes, although TT stages give a bit more scope for a longer stop. I rode out to the ToB TT stage a couple of years back and was chatting to one of...
