    Audi owners in here!

It's a 245 PS S-Line Plus (3.0 TDI). I actually got the box to see if I could improve the MPG (I was doing up to a 1,000 miles/week at the time) which it did, marginally. It certainly gives the car a bit more oomph from stationary but I think you'd be better off sticking with popping the gear...

    Audi owners in here!

No worries chap - just giving you an alternative view from an owner. I don't drive aggressively much of the time and the motorway miles will certainly have helped (when not sitting in traffic I'll trundle along at 80). However I have had a little box from DTUK installed for a bit more enjoyment...

    Audi owners in here!

I'm not sure about the winter tyres information. I had 12k out of the factory fit tyres on my Q7 (21"). Swapped them out in January for a set of Yokohama W.Drive V902B winter tyres and have done 25k miles on them. They'll be replaced on Monday with 2.5mm left on the front and 5mm left on the...

Bike Meet Version 2.0 - A44 to Aberystwyth

The A44 isn't just license threateningly quick, for lots of it, it is custodial sentencely quick. The wheelie wasn't on purpose. The camera is a POV HD.

How long will it take to be able to cycle 50 miles a day

Just to add a different perspective from someone who has toured a lot. My ex-fiancee was happy to tour on a £280 Trek 7.1FX hybrid for holidays that were significantly longer than 50 miles/day. Add in a rack and panniers for another £100, a pump, helmet, bike lock, tubes, repair kit and a couple...

Bike Meet Version 2.0 - A44 to Aberystwyth

You ought to try hitting Crossgates (junction of A44 and A483) for a popular bike meet location, head north from Crossgates on the A483 for a fantastic route. From Newtown head back down the A470 before rejoining the A44 to Aber. Once in Aber you can choose to go towards Brecon or to...

What bike for a giant at 6ft 8?

I am 6ft 8 and ride a 2003 RSV-R. I might look a bit of a *** on the bike but it fits pretty well. It certainly isn't as comfortable as a tourer or multi-purpose bike, but I'm happy to run 300 to 400 mile days on it. I've been considering adding a 660 to my garage for a bit of alternative fun...

    Camera never lies?

I relocated to Shanghai a couple of months ago. Quite simply you can ignore UK driving rules, regulations & our perception of what constitutes common sense. http://wikitravel.org/en/Driving_in_China#Dangers Of particular note is the Right of Way section. I've had the pleasure of...

How do i lock my macbook air?

Look for an preferences plugin called LockTight. It only does one thing, allowing you to assign a keyboard combination to lock the current user.

    Whats your pre ride routine?

Being a typical Mille rider... Remove brick hanging from rear brake lever, wheel out of the garage, get kitted up, fire it up, check miles done since last fill up and groan at the impending wallet crushing visit to the petrol station. Mirrors are useless so get adjusted in-ride, horn is...

    Motorbike documentries/films recommendation

Another vote for Mondo Enduro and it's follow-up Terra Circa. I defy anybody to watch those programs and not get the itch to pack in life and go travel on two wheels. If you fancy a read you could always try Ted Simon's Jupiters Travels.

    Road Cycling Essentials

Sure you do, but it certainly is not as unsettling as trying to climb up 20% or greater gradients with an extra 12kg of gear on the back. I've never had any issues on a tour when descending because of the additional weight on the back of the bike. I have, however, fallen off a bike whilst...

    Road Cycling Essentials

You don't need to worry about braking on descents. You do, however, need to be aware of the front lifting on sharp ascents. Lots of torque through the crank, lots of weight on the back, steep uphill makes for a very light front-end. Get out of the saddle and over the bars and it'll be fine.

    Road Cycling Essentials

If you do a B&B cycle tour and have pre-booked your accommodation at +60 mile intervals then it doesn't matter how much training you have or haven't done, you'll consistently reach your overnight stay. It's amazing how far you can cycle given the thought of a warm shower, some grub and a comfy...

    Cycle holiday checklist

Not bad and quite close to what I'd take for a full week (less the camping gear). http://www.malia.info/2011/05/2011-cycle-tour-packing-list/ Personally I'd not bother with: chain, chain tool (usually find a simple one on a bike multi-tool), gels (get some proper food in you), vaseline (a poor...

    Road Cycling Essentials

Well we got back from this years cycle tour on Sunday and we were absolutely shattered. Highlights - cycling almost entirely from coast to coast in a day, climbing up through Eskdale onto Birker Fell, my introduction to Cartmel's famous sticky toffee pudding, Tan Hill pub and missing almost...

    Biker Injuries Thread

One lapse in concentration - one metal hip (to be replaced again in the next 15 to 20 years), three broken minor bones in my back, dislocated ACJ and nerve damage. Hospital and immobilisation for a couple of weeks, surgery 12 months later once they realised they had missed a fractured femur &...

    Road Cycling Essentials

Two sets of cycling clothes, wear a set on one day. Shower and wash that days clothes when you get to the B&B in evening. Leave to dry whilst you grab a pint and some food. Use the spare dry set the following day. This means that if your first set do not quite dry in time then you can finish...
