Keep losing network connection in Windows 11 Pro

Sorry for the delay in replying, I have been waiting for the issue to pop up again so I can look in the event viewer. There are a few things that crop up when the PC seems to lose its connection: 1. The RPCService service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 10 time(s). The following...

Keep losing network connection in Windows 11 Pro

I've posted this here as I'm not sure whether this is a hardware issue or a software issue. I've got a PC that I built a couple of years back. Intel 12th Gen with a Gigabyte Z690 Aorus Elite DDR4 board. The motherboard has a Realtek 2.5Gb Lan Port. The PC is running Windows 11 Pro. The PC is on...

Windows Server or NAS for Small Business?

Thanks for this. We don't use any accounts/erp software that resides on the server. When we bought the server initially, it was because we were going to buy a software solution that required an onpremise server. We decided that we didn't want to spend £10-20k on a piece of software when we could...

Windows Server or NAS for Small Business?

Our small business currently has an HP rackmount server filled with 16 x 2.5" SAS hard drives (I believe they're all 600GB). It is running VMWare and then a vm running Windows Server 2019. Currently, the server is used predominantly as a file server, with Active Directory. We have folder...

    No fibre link between switches

Thanks, I think that's the issue. I made sure the specs were all the same (Multimode 850nm, etc) but just assumed I could have SFP one end and SFP+ on the other. I just tried a known working cable (the one that connects the server to the switch) and that wouldn't work either so looks like I need...

    No fibre link between switches

Morning all. I am having a bit of a network issue and I wondered if you guys could help. I have a main switch (a 48 port Aruba Instant On 1930) which has 4 x 10Gb SFP+ ports on it. This is positioned in our server room upstairs. I then have a Netgear GS752TXS downstairs which is connected to...

Powering PWM fans without a PC?

Just an update, Akasa controller arrived today and works fine with the Molex power supply I’d bought. Blimey these 3,000rpm fans are fast…now wondering whether they’re too fast haha but they’re only £2 more than the non ‘industrial ones’ at 1,500rpm and they’re the same price as the 2,000rpm...

Powering PWM fans without a PC?

Problem with a psu is it needs some way of powering it on. I know you can jumper wire it to power it on but that’s not really a viable option long term. I’ve got an Akasa FC.SIX arriving today so will see if that works, otherwise will be buying a multimeter (may get one anyway to be honest)...

Powering PWM fans without a PC?

Had a quick look online and thinking of getting the Akasa FC.Six. It’s not technically ‘external’ but says it can be powered by a Molex. There are cheaper alternatives available but Akasa is a brand I know of. I’ll also order a 3 pin fan as well just to test it out in comparison.

Powering PWM fans without a PC?

So, the fans I bought are NF-A14 industrialPPC-3000PWM’s. I’d read that without the PWM control, they just run at the maximum of 3,000rpm. When I tested them on my pc, I used the Molex splitter cable I had bought (which just has the 12v wire and the ground wire), and they powered up fine. I...

Powering PWM fans without a PC?

Thanks, will see if I can find the threads. Yeh, that’s what I thought, that the 2amps would be a ‘max’

Powering PWM fans without a PC?

A bit of an odd one… I’m trying to build a cooling solution for something at work consisting of 4-6 Noctua industrial 3000rpm PWM fans. I’ve bought a Molex to 4x 4pin fan splitter and a 12v Molex power supply. Plugged it all together and nothing. Tested the fan and the Molex to fan splitter...

M1 Mac vs i7 PC laptop

She does. She has an iPhone, Apple watch, and we use iPads within our business. I do know she used iMessage a lot on her old laptop but she mostly uses Whatsapp now which she has installed on her laptop.

M1 Mac vs i7 PC laptop

I don't want this to turn into another Mac vs PC thread but I have a genuine question... My wife currently has a Huawei Matebook 13 with an i5 CPU. She loves her laptop but it has become a bit battered, there's a crack in the bottom of the screen (doesn't actually reach the start menu so can...

    spec me a workstation.

If it's for a business, I wouldn't recommend using the 'windows keys for £10'. Should your business become subject to a licensing audit, those £10 keys will be very diffifult to justify as most of them are OEM issued to the likes of Dell, HP, etc (if not, MSDN keys).

    New Build Z690 & i9 - Advice

I personally wouldn't bother with the i9. From everything I've read, the i7 is only marginally behind in benchmarks and is a fair bit easier to cool than the i9.

    New PC - Windows 10 or 11?

Building a couple of new PC's and can't decide whether to buy Windows 10 Pro OEM or buy Windows 11 Pro OEM seeing as they are both the same price. If I buy Windows 11, can I downgrade to Windows 10 like you could with previous OS releases?

    Case recommendations for workstation build

I'm about to embark on building a couple of high end (ish) PC's for work (they will both run 12700K CPU's, 64GB ram, Noctua D15 coolers, Quadro RTX4000's etc. The only thing I can't decide on is the case. I've been looking at cases for a while and the only case I like the look of is the...

Best memory for Ryzen at the mo?

About 18 months ago I built a Ryzen 7 pc and had issues running the memory at its rated speed. I read that certain brands/models worked better than others but at the time I couldn’t afford a new set of ram. Anyway, I’m now able to replace the ram but not sure what to get. I’m looking for 32GB...
