It’s common industry to over-inflate tyres prior to shipping from the factory to prevent flat-spotting while in transit/storage. Surprised if a manufacturer isn’t doing that especially as we’re not exactly a local market for them.
Admittedly it does get more complicated if they’re storing cars...
Yep
I’d be pretty certain Ford toned down the styling on the facelift so the RS stood out more in comparison - some colours it’s hard to tell it’s an ST from a distance
Best colour too :)
I had the same on a 56 plate, took a lot of cosmetic tweeks to my facelift mk2.5 to get me happy with how it looked whereas the pre-facelift was there pretty much from the off.
I just added side stripes plus had the grilles and foglamp surrounds painted satin black, but kept...
Nothing new if I’m behind the ball with those - I’ve repainted the ST badges black on mine with red inlays and the front one is looking a bit tatty so thought the latest mk4 ones would save me the job of repainting etc.
I’ve got my eye on the black ST badges off one of these
Owned 2 ST170’s in the past. First on an 02 plate was one of the early ones and had fair number of issues, later 53 plate in Imperial blue was much better. Even snagged an RS top grille for it. Handling was brilliant, just bit of a letdown...
It’ll probably help to look up the offset figures for your current wheels so you can compare against any potential aftermarket options you’re looking at - this affects where the wheels will sit within the arches.
So you may or may not need spacers, example my 19” Oz’s fill the arches really...
Honestly can’t remember where it would have been on the standard clutch, changed mine maybe 5 years ago.
Best I could suggest is to compare it to another ST to see if that feels the same.
Typically an RS clutch will feel heavier than a standard ST clutch, can’t say I noticed any difference in biting point between the 2 when mine was upgraded.
Good way to check for slipping is to get to 2 or 3K in 5th or 6th then accelerate and see if the tacho rises smoothly or seems to drop...
I think if it’s got to the point where it’s knocking/clunking it may need the driveshaft replacing due to excessive wear on the CV joint. Depending on the car I don’t know if it’d need the full shaft changing or the joint itself is a serviceable item.
Thanks all, had planned to flat off the primer tonight but found a I’d not quite covered all of it with the primer so had to put a bit more on.
Been using a spare fascia panel to see what the silver looks like - going to need few more coats than expected to get good coverage and will need the...
Just looking for bit of help with the best process for painting a radio fascia panel for my Focus, to go with a new android head unit.
Want the fascia to be satin black top and bottom with say 50mm stripe below the display area in gloss silver to match the heater control panel it sits over...
I got my first look at one of these last week, it was having what I assume to be a Mongoose cat-back being fitted at Collins Performance. Had been used as the donor car so I think it got the first tooled up system.
Sod’s law I spotted another one the day after
Typically going in with a tap it helps to do small turns followed by backing it out then going in again. So maybe do half a turn, back it out 1/4 turn to help draw up any debris, go back that 1/4 turn then do another half turn and so on.
A trick to double check the tread pitch of bolt and tap...
Problem I find is that at night on streetlit roads you pretty much can't see the low beam. Could be there's something going on with the ballast unit built into my lamps, don't know if these can deteriorate with age or they've always been like that.
Didn't realise some cars use the Xenon only...
I've got D4S bulbs in my Focus and thought they were looking dimmer than they had in the past.
But after trying both Osram Xenarc Nightbreakers and Phillips Xtremevision I can't honestly say either are better than the standard bulbs to be honest.
Can't fault high beam on any of them, I was...
You can try removing the relay and shorting the power feed terminals at the fuse box - this will prove out the fans themselves plus wiring from the fusebox to the fans. If they work ok shorted out (use some thick cable for this) then fault lies earlier in the system with either the sensor or...
Thanks for the advice everyone - I'll have a look at Horizon LEDs to see what they offer.
Helpful to know about just how bright the Autobeam versions would have been - saw their video with set fitted to a Focus RS but it's hard to judge the real effect. Looks like overkill in this case. If...
