It is still a great chip at the speed you are running it. I was thinking of going the x99 route myself mainly because of the upgrade itch. I will probably keep what I have until something comes out that obliterates it not just minimal gains.

Can you not overclock your chip a bit further? They are good for 4.4Ghz from what I have been told.

I usually run it at 4.8Ghz for everyday use :)

It is not worth upgrading from an i7 2600k clocked at 4.6Ghz or over for anything Intel have out at the moment. Best spending your money on a top graphics card. Do you agree or disagree?

Has anyone tried one of those HDD enclosures that you can get now. I had a spare Samsung 840 250GB lying around so bought an enclosure that turns it into a portable drive. Really handy

It is just my opinion. Seasonic are proven bulletproof.

I used to buy Corsair units myself until CWT started making them. They are probably Ok but I prefer Seasonic or Superflower made units

Yes I know but most 850W Platinum units are more expensive than the XFX 100OW unit. Seems a good buy to me.
