5700XT doing so well shows that AMD will finally have upper hand with titles optimised for its uarch on consoles
NVIDIA will have to work doubly hard to beat it with brute force
What will happen soon is that at 5nm we'll get enough raster to drive 4k/120 fps easily with 2-3 times more ray tracing perf, and a gen after that we'll get maybe 10 times more ray tracing, which ought to be enough for everybody :)
Raytracing ain't free, the only time it won't be jeapoardising FPS is when (around 2030) games will be ray-tracing only, so no point of reference to compare in terms of lost frame rates.
4k is particularly difficult for ray tracing since it's a lot more pixels.
Outsourcing sales via AIBs keep help Nvidia's headcount low, much better for share price to be considerd a tech company rather than retailer with some added value. Lots of customer service aggro is dealt with by AIBs too.
It seems that 3070 was meant to be 3080, and actual 3080 was supposed to be 3080TI and 3090 was meant to be Titan (so difference isn't high, just like before).
Only one logical explanation for such shift - RDNA2. :)
Will still buy 3090 though...
