ASROCK 6900 XT NOW ONLY £689.99 (£649.99 FOR LOYAL FORUM MEMBERS)

Fans are great and temps are very good so you can keep the fan speeds down generally. A little coil whine now and again but nothing to bad even when its pumping out 110fps in RRD2 on max settings.

My first ever AMD GPU! A great price thanks OCUK, the card is a very nice upgrade from the 3070.

Why there won’t be 5700x CPU

There will be a 5700X eventually. They will just milk the 5800X first :) For me £400+ is far to much for a CPU for gaming so I'm looking at the 5600X which will be fine with 6c/12t but I might be forced to wait until Jan due to stock and I'm sure by then a 5700X will out at £380?

    CPU intensive games

I would hit 100% with assassins creed games on ultra 1440p with a 4c/8t 7700K...turned down to very high and would drop by 20% but really you don't want the cpu hitting 100% and you want to have some headroom. Most games are GPU bottlenecked anyway. Maybe as we hit the next gen consoles that...

Regrets going from Intel to AMD?

Yeah probably true and I will upgrade my GPU first and see how performance goes for gaming which is still good with a 4c/8t cpu. No gaming and working at the same time although with two monitors I could try that out :)

Regrets going from Intel to AMD?

Exactly for gaming Intel is still king and for AMD workstation performance working the CPU 100% its night and day between them Intel is way behind AMD in architecture, value and efficiency from what benchmarks and reviews ive seen. Interesting reading the comments on the thread as Im looking at...

    i7 6700K Upgade or Hold

As mentioned if gaming only and other light stuff then stick with the 6700K, I had a 4770K also and upgraded to a 7700K and 4c/8t is still brilliant for pure gaming with a good speed CPU. Maybe more cores will become more important for gaming in the next few years but single core speed is still...

    AMD Zen 2 (Refresh) 3900XT/3800XT/3600XT

Maybe filler as Zen3 is delayed? Could have issues with the new 4000 series due to the pandemic and are pushing back the release? Otherwise I see no reason why they would release these?

Looking for new GPU £3/400 budget.

Probably best to wait especially with current stock levels. I have a GTX1080 but the GTX1070 is still good for 1080p gaming on very high or ultra settings depending on the game and get at least 60fps. Im gonna wait until cyberpunk is out and see what performance is like and for what AMD and...

Intel CEO says the industry should stop using benchmarks

True 4 cores are cheaper to make especially back 5-10 years ago and so why make CPUs with more cores that will be vastly more expensive for a mainstream market mainly buying dual or quad cores at that time. And that's my point they did make other CPUs with more cores but the 5820k was a core X...

Intel CEO says the industry should stop using benchmarks

I would say not because of Intel as the majority of the gaming market is on console and so consoles are what limits/progresses game development. In those days PS3 was made with a heavily customised IBM cell chip compared to the x86 machines now as consoles are built much closer to PCs its...

Intel CEO says the industry should stop using benchmarks

It is very ironic that he would come out to say benchmarks dont matter now when each gen release from Intel was always marketed as the best gaming CPU or best in this benchmark and so you need to upgrade.

Intel CEO says the industry should stop using benchmarks

No actually they released mainly quad core CPUs for the mainstream mainly gaming users. They also released HEDT cpus with higher core counts for professionals and workstation production. The downside to no AMD competition for years was that the pricing on these was ridiculous. There was also...

Intel CEO says the industry should stop using benchmarks

I'm saying Intel had a great product 5 years ago so to say they didn't is simply not true. But yes AMD didn't have anything to compete with back then because they had released bad products the past 5 years before that and so Intel were leading. Trying to say Intel were winning a race because AMD...

Intel CEO says the industry should stop using benchmarks

Come on that's not true. Up until Ryzen, Intel had a huge lead in the CPU market and it took until Ryzen 2nd Gen for major gaming gains from AMD. And its great AMD are competing and now beating intel with their CPUs but to say Intel had nothing 5 years ago when Skylake just released with Intel's...

OcUK Comet Lake S review thread

I did not realise 10900K came with no cooler at all so that is definitely got to be taken account off when looking at overall CPU prices as that is a definite additional cost. For me though I cannot remember the last time i used a stock cooler and I think most would want a decent air or AIO...

OcUK Comet Lake S review thread

That's not really true though. Most would buy an aftermarket cooler for an AMD CPU and you can get a pretty decent one for not too much money. Yes AMD CPUs are much better priced and are better value for money but MB and coolers are about the same. Edit: Actually didnt realise the CPUs are the...

My i7 2600K build is still good 10 years on - What current CPU has best VFM over the next 10 years?

Those consoles had 8 cores but they were not for pure CPU purposes they were shared with the GPU and the architecture especially for PS3 was very different to a PC. PS4 did go to a more traditional x86 arch but it was a heavily customised AMD Jaguar CPU @1.6Ghz per core. PS5/XboxSX will have a...

who agrees with this? Best CPU for games, workstation etc

Hmm high end workstation is a lot of money! I'd have thought the 3950X? Gaming agree with the 10600K Overall I would think the 3700X?

My i7 2600K build is still good 10 years on - What current CPU has best VFM over the next 10 years?

I think generally you invest in and buy the best you can get for your money at the time and it will last another 5-10 years (2600k is a beast). Definitely right now to future proof 8/16 would be the way to go and for that an AMD CPU of some kind would be the best. Going forward even though CPU...
