8 PACK MEMORY RANGE GROWING: SAY HELLO TO 8 PACK RIPPED EDITION & 32GB KITS!!!

hi there, I wonder if you guys could give me some advice. For awhile my mum's pc has been having randon BSOD when starting up (some days its fine, others not); ive tried swapping parts over now and then to find out what the problem is; gpu, psu, etc. I even took the whole pc apart and back...

    NVIDIA 4000 Series

wow, those prices are insane - nearly a grand for an 80 series card (which is the cut down version), and the actual 80 card over £1,200 (nearly double of that of a 3080fe). if the 4080 is double the performance, thats only the same price per frame. PC gaming feeling more and more doomed -...

    New build, random BSOD

hi there guys, its been awhile but I wanted to change a few things; - I changed the bios back to F15 (the last non-beta bios) - Re-installed Windows 11 (en-case of any damaged files), - And boosted LLC to HIGH for both the CPU and SOC, Then for no reason, a random BSOD yesterday. I guess...

    New build, random BSOD

Thanks for the advice. Ill see how it goes for the next few days, and report back. Hopefully increasing the LLC has fixed it.

    New build, random BSOD

hi there, I did try with XMP on and off with the same problem. So I put XMP back on. Ill try the LLC - hopefully that will slove it, and let you guys know. ps. when I said default, I meant must have the options at bios default apart from XMP (turnned on). [update] In the Gigabyte BIOS LLC...

    New build, random BSOD

thanks for the info, ill give it ago. I guess level 1 gives the chip a little boost?

    New build, random BSOD

hi there guys, I wonder if any you guys have suggestions for a new build. A month or so ago I upgraded my pc from a 3900x to a 5950x (my system is fine, no problems). The plan was to put the 3900x into a new MB and give it to my mum. I had the memory, drives, gpu etc. I did buy a case too...

    3700x upgrade to 5800x or 5800x3d?

I had it working on my 3900x + 3080, and also my 5950x + 3080 (however its called resizable bar)

    3700x upgrade to 5800x or 5800x3d?

Maybe its one last upgrade on the AM4 platform? as Its doubtful we see any-more chips in the future for it. AM5 will need time; for fixes and prices to lower and for the memory to get better (since we have to go for DDR5).

    3700x upgrade to 5800x or 5800x3d?

atm there isnt much difference in the 5950x vs the 3d. If youre looking it at for simply gaming, then the 3d but anything else - an extra 8 cores? Its not like an 5950x is slow for gaming either.

    3700X to 5900X or 5800X3D

totally agree, for a bit more money (£70~) you can get an extra 8 cores. Its not like the 5950x is bad at gaming, plus its nice to have them :)

    Zen 5 Chat

I did this for the same reasons. Zen 4 will be great and that but waiting until Zen 5 will allow the boards, memory etc. to mature (such as Zen 3 atm).

***The Official 5900X \5950X owners thread***

hi there, I recently brought a 5950x and had some questions about PBO. I have some quick messing around with it and found that with PBO enabled the chip does boost better - im seeing around +10% in multicore R20 score. Does PBO shorten the life-span of the chip (like by increasing voltages...

AMD to unveil Zen 4 CPUs at CES 2022

Thanks for the advice. I agree the best bang-4-buck would be the 5900x. But if I do a Zen 3 chip, it will be my last AM4 chip. I would rather spend a little more now and get the extra cores (it would bug me in the future that I should have gone a little further and got the extra cores). Sure its...

AMD to unveil Zen 4 CPUs at CES 2022

Yea I get what you mean. The trouble is with Zen4 is it will need new memory (got plently of DDR4 around) and an costly motherboard. So say £500'ish for the cpu (8-12 cores - 7800x or 7900x), £200~ for 32Gb memory (DDR5 might have come down somewhat) and £300~ for X670. So £1,000+ for Zen 4...

AMD to unveil Zen 4 CPUs at CES 2022

hi guys, so with recent Zen 4 news; I wonder if you think its a good idea to go for a 5950x now (since the price as dropped), or wait for more on Zen 4? Maybe its me, but did Zen4 come across a little disappointing? We didnt get to see much performance figures, just a +15% single threaded...

    CPU upgrade for Gaming

indeed, and I agree about if buying a whole system. He does have a B450 motherboard, so I was thinking he/she could drop in a Zen3 chip and be done for a few years (let Zen4-5, DDR5, X670 mature). I would say if you do go for an 5000 series, try and go for an 8 core chip. It will be much...

    CPU upgrade for Gaming

how come? seeing as some of the 5000 series is at its lowest price. AM5 looks like it will need DDR5 - which hasnt matured, or droppped in a price. We dont even know if the next gen boards will support Zen5 (I agree its most likely). When is Zen4 due? end of year?

AMD Zen 3 (5000 Series), rumored 17% IPC gain.

wow, a £415 would be an amazing deal for the 5950x - cant see that to be honest. However is there another price reducion due? so we might see the 5950x well under £500?
