The RX Vega 56 Owners Thread

Didn't realise I had notifications still on for this thread! Still stuck with my pulse. Upgraded to a 48" 4k oled as my monitor so its struggling a bit . OC has got more unstable too. Was hopeful to have upgraded by now of course. Not touched any new game releases in a year :(

** noblechairs HERO ST 2020 LIMITED EDITION MODEL NOW AVAILABLE FOR PREORDER **

Mine arrived today - thanks chug/ocuk. Assembly was a cinch with the help of a power driver and it looks and feels top class. It's a massive chair built for a monster of a human being mind. I'm 180cm tall and 83Kg and probably at the bottom end of the ideal range - the back of my knees are tight...

** noblechairs HERO ST 2020 LIMITED EDITION MODEL NOW AVAILABLE FOR PREORDER **

Any chance you can say up to what order date the current stock covers? I ordered on 30th so will i get from this batch or have to wait for the next?

** noblechairs HERO ST 2020 LIMITED EDITION MODEL NOW AVAILABLE FOR PREORDER **

I was having a tongue in cheek dig at the recent gfx card and console launches. OCUK have always been reliable in my experience. If chug is claiming the stock is stuck in Felixstowe then I have no reason to doubt it. @ChugNorris is there any update on progress please?

** noblechairs HERO ST 2020 LIMITED EDITION MODEL NOW AVAILABLE FOR PREORDER **

Just ordered and got the confirmation mail after 15 mins which I hope means I'm guaranteed one? The Noblechairs UK website has stock of this model as "not available" so hoping this isnt a paper launch like some recent gaming products or that the container contents mysteriously disappear en route...

    The AMD Driver Thread

Dont disagree with the strategy - the risk associated with such a rapid release cycle was zactly my original point on previous page. However I'm a strange combination of sceptic and optimist who likes to play AMD driver roulette in the vain hope that one day I'm going to be blown away :D

    The AMD Driver Thread

WHQL drivers are just the culmination of all the beta drivers that come in between them and submitted to microsoft for certification. There's nothing fundamentally different between them or the beta versions - they can all contain new game enhancements, bug fixes and a lengthy list of known...

    The AMD Driver Thread

In fairness stability on my 56 pulse has been ok in recent releases except for 20.8.1 which caused my first black screen in a long time and corrupted the BL3 shader cache twice. I found there was a notable improvement in stability when AMD moved back to a 1-2 releases per month cadence over the...

    The AMD Driver Thread

Call me an old sceptic (for I am) but I can't help wondering whether game releases are just a cover for urgent bug fixes to keep the press noise down ahead of big Navi. I'm still scarred from July last year and January this year when AMD released 5 and 4 versions respectively because they just...

    The AMD Driver Thread

Not sure if we should be worried we're back to multiple releases in a month. Anyway, after the disaster that was 20.8.1, I was getting on OK with 20.8.2 but had to try this out after seeing a claimed 12% FPS boost in Fortnite DX12 in the hope that this would translate to all Unreal Engine 4...

    The AMD Driver Thread

Installed 20.8.1 yesterday and had 2 driver crashes in 6 hours of play in Borderlands 3, 1 with the OC profile loaded and 1 on stock, and both times it corrupted the shader cache which is a pita as takes ages to refresh each time. Before this driver this has happened circa twice in the whole...

This driver is dodgy as. I too see about 1 fps better performance in Borderlands but at the expense of temps which are 5C hotter (hotspot is hitting 94C) and fan is screaming at nearly 2300rpm where as was about 1940 before with the same fan curve. Looks like clock speeds have risen which would...

    The AMD Driver Thread

Ah. Thanks. Help if I read the notes past the fixes  I did manage to get it to load a profile eventually so have saved off as new file which seems to load fine on startup. Early reviews seem positive for this driver so looking forward to using it. Thought the last one was good too...

Anyone else having issues with loading previous driver performance profiles? It just resets all disabled/enabled sliders to off for me then when I reset to enabled, it's got the wrong profile settings

    The AMD Driver Thread

I've been on 20.4.2 since launch a week ago and had one random driver crash in BL3 in that time which is the best stability yet on a 2020 driver for me. And I've been putting a lot of hours into borderlands since MH2.0 which came out same day as the driver. Feels a bit smoother too. So overall...

    The AMD Driver Thread

Some Vega specific fixes at last. Not sure if relevant to any of my residual issues but have a bigger problem with broken audio after yesterdays Borderlands 3 patch. Didnt fix that sadly

    The AMD Driver Thread

Yeah it's been the longest beta ever. Poor for a game that is meant to be optimised for AMD. I've been using DX12 since the outset and not had stability issues initially with 2020 drivers, just the 8% drop in performance. I find it hard to believe the more recent driver versions have got less...

    The AMD Driver Thread

I think you've hit the nail on the head there. I lost borderlands completely last night after another driver crash, this time on 20.2.2 which was stable(ish) previously. The game started hanging on the optimizing shaders screen every start up so I have re-stalled the game, reinstalled the 20.4.1...

    The AMD Driver Thread

Good to know it can be stable, thanks. Will do an Epic verify and if that doesnt work I'll re-install the game. I dont think windows is the problem but who knows - it's been a year since it was installed now so maybe time for the full nuclear option

    The AMD Driver Thread

I have wondered this but my coop partner plays on a 1080 Ti and says he doesn't have any issues at all. Clearing the shader cache on each crash is a pretty grim workaround as this really elongates the startup time, even on nvme ssd. I might write a script to do it nightly along with my save game...
