Installing a network printer on a small network connected to a server running Server2019

Did you mentioned Active Directory..??? That means Domain Controller and users in centralized management. I would suggest looking into how they are inter-connected with that first - and then go with network printer on server, shared, and all users just connecting to it via shared name as...

Quick sanity check, PC connected to POE switch?

If you give us switch model, we can give you definite, 100% certain answer. At this moment answer is "95% of PoE switches will detect if device is PoE-hungry or not and will enable it only after receiving that 'gimmie power' communication from end device. Desktops will not send it, hence switch...

    Exchange Switch-Off

@paradigm - you're not wrong, but remember what happened to telegrams, telefax or public payphones? They are all gone, and few remaining devices on UK streets are vandalised and unusable. They were replaced by smaller, more modern devices... Demand will enforce new approach to those issues and...

I am clearly and demostrably only one Obviously Positive person here.. I wish any of you to get this stuff... Having said that - my Logitech 910 just broke, my Corsair Dark Core RGB Pro lost battery and 'it's a sad, sad situation' ("Sorry seems to be the hardest word" by Elton John).. I type...

    ESXI AVAILABILITY UPDATE

Yeah, VMUG member here. If they remove this as well, it'll be end of my interest in learning VMWare, will move to new pastures... They tend to forget why Microsoft and Office are so popular - free licences for schools and: what youth is used to, age remembers

Switching to Community Fibre; internal cabling question

Hmm, just as a point of info - my FTTP is run with fibre cable around 1mm in diameter... but I live in block of flats, so this may be "internal only" cable..?

L3 managed switch vs virtual firewall

Have FTTP 1gbps, both servers have Intel i3-3240 2core/4threads processors and opnSense unit will have 12GB's of RAM.. I am interested myself, there's option to upgrade to 45W TDP Xeon 4c/8t CPU as well, but will see what those i3's can do. It will not go live for few weeks thou.. need to wait...

L3 managed switch vs virtual firewall

OK, sold.. Will run one microserver as 24/7 physical FW and use additional NIC's in it to provide filtered VLAN traffic to other Windows computers inside my home.. May use L3 switch as a internal segregation for vSAN, vMotion etc once I get new PC and set up two vCentre lab.. Already installed...

L3 managed switch vs virtual firewall

Yeah, single 8700K with 128GB of RAM will not give me that, but as a starting point - thanks a lot, will be good read. May introduce my second microserver into lab at later time, but it has only 8GB of RAM, so... And correct WJA96 - it is not a question... fortunately, I do not need new...

L3 managed switch vs virtual firewall

Literally to learn their intefrace and internal workings, so basically it was "since I already have it, best way to learn it is to route real traffic through it". Since yesterday I have put my hands on SG300-10 Cisco managed switch thou, not played with it much for obvious reasons, but it seems...

L3 managed switch vs virtual firewall

Well, there's reason for ' before and after file server... Not SMB, no... and I think about VLAN's and ACL's as means of near-FW capability.. hence "managed L3 switch"... now than I think about it, are there any small routers with that amount of ports? Have to admit it just came to me so...

L3 managed switch vs virtual firewall

Hi all, Soon will be upgrading my personal computer and current one will become VMware lab only, and my personal will be general use. I am thinking about turning one of my currently unused HP gen8 microservers into WSUS/'file server' facing internet wirn Server 2019 on it, current PC would...

AIO for entire STRIX RTX2080 Super?

Taken your feedback and experimented with undervolting a little.. Not to extremes, but just a tad.. Definitely dropped from 113xx to 111xx in 3DMark, but did that at saving of about 30W of power draw, temps drop of about 5-10 degrees and fans working at around 80% max.. ..instead of hitting both...

AIO for entire STRIX RTX2080 Super?

Not done any voltage manual change, just got to max power and temp limits, used whatever curve Afterburner OC scanner gave me on core clock, but raised memory by +1300 manually. Works... http://www.3dmark.com/spy/42932301 GPU score 12168 on time Spy. It'll do for me. As per AIO - you have not...

Hi, Complete noob here, never watercooled anything, so be patient please.. My ROG-STRIX-RTX2080S-O8G-GAMING is running bit loud after overclocking it little bit, so want to investigate current options of replacing entire aircooling system with waterblock. Looking at full coverage with VRAM...

    Insurance for missed travel

Thresholds were 'less than my ticket cost' and 3000. Chosen 3000.. Couple insurance was not obtainable to me at time of purchase. Not applicable in this instance. Few years back I have read about someone who won against car insurer by provididg current car adverts for same car that were way...
