    First PC Build

You can definitely get them cheaper than that, like I said there are 2gb ones for £50 pretty easily available

    First PC Build

I'd recommend some oldish second hand one over a gt710, you can get something like an Rx 460 with a 2 year warranty for basically the same price, it won't be as quiet as a 710 but it won't be any louder than the CPU cooler. There's the environmental benefit of reusing instead of creating more...

New Gaming PC Build for Xmas

Just wherever each part is cheapest personally, but generally overclockers don't like people recommending competitors so you probably won't get anything more specific than that.

New Gaming PC Build for Xmas

You're looking at probably at least a 3070, which is £520 minimum if you can even get one. At that point getting an alright 1440p monitor would probably be cheaper, looking at his current monitor I'm guessing he's still gonna want it for creative work or something to like that? IMO you should...

New Gaming PC Build for Xmas

It'd probably struggle a little with the division 2 at 4k and I'm not sure about rogue company, but it'll definitely manage everything else no problems at all. If the plan is to run the games at 1440p on a 4k monitor it's worth noting it'll look much worse than native 1440p.

New To Gaming (Total War & FM)

Assuming 3600 & 2060, at 1080p you should be fine to play stuff like TW for at least a few years, probably 5+ as long as you're ok to turn down some settings at some point. If you get into more triple A stuff you might wanna upgrade the GPU in a few years, but you could manage for longer. For...

New To Gaming (Total War & FM)

I guess overclockers just have it massively overpriced then, I got my 3600x for about 185 last December. I personally can't hear my stock cooler when wearing headphones even if there's no sound coming through them, but maybe my tinnitus is part of that.

New To Gaming (Total War & FM)

Yeah no DLSS in those specific games but being able to use it introduces quite a bit more future proofing imo, especially since strategy games benefit quite a bit from higher res and a bigger screen imo.

New To Gaming (Total War & FM)

Is there really any reason to go for a 3600xt over a plain 3600 or a 3600x? The £50 or so would pretty much get you to 2060 price which means you can use DLSS. The cooler doesn't seem worthwhile either since they're unlikely to be overclocking.

    Upgrading advice

It'd probably make a bigger difference in gaming performance to keep your current CPU and get a 3080. Definitely wouldn't bother with a mobo upgrade as 5000 is supposed to be the last AM4 socket CPUs, so you'd be basically guaranteed to have to replace it next time you upgraded.

Help me spec a new PC

If you're alright to wait a bit (which you'd have to for a 3080 anyway) I'd probably just go for the 5600x over the 3900 as you actually get a fair bit more gaming performance for less money and it's lower tdp so easier to cool. Also means you'd get more performance out of a 6000 series GPU if...

Looking for keyboard & mouse recommendations (Office use)

The MX master is still just a really nice mouse imo even if you can't use the gestures. The first gen one goes on sale for about £40 pretty regularly if you just don't want to have spent so much on something you can't use all the features of.

    Best Mechanical Keyboard for £50

I reckon you're gonna struggle getting a decent wireless one for £50 tbh, probably best looking at some roundups on YouTube (LTT have done a few iirc) or trying to get something second hand maybe?

Do you use the USB-C port on you're case

I don't use it much atm, but I'm slowly purging all micro usb devices from my life, and more and more usb c ones are coming with c to c cables in my experience.

Case advice - Meshify C or Define 7 compact?

I found the meshify really nice to build in personally, and the dark tinted glass panel still looks pretty understated if you couldn't end up getting the none glass version as it seems to be much less common in my experience.

GTX 1050Ti Vs Radeon 7850 (maybe xfire?)

Seems like 7850 would be the better choice then. Probably don't want to invest too much into Mobo as the next Ryzen 6000 is gonna be a new socket apparently so there's not gonna be much of an upgrade path without also replacing the mobo. Better (and therefore quieter) PSU, decent fans etc. will...

GTX 1050Ti Vs Radeon 7850 (maybe xfire?)

Photo editing the 7850s should be plenty right? Video editing I'm less sure on, does it scale well with crossfire? I'd imagine the potential limitation would be the VRAM, so it'll depend on what resolution.

    Indecision is final

As long as you can afford to have the ~1.5k missing from your bank account for the next month or two I'd just order both, but if there's nothing in particular you want to play this year maybe just stick with the 580.

    Custom 6800XT Cards

It ended up being quite a couple months or so with the 5000 series didn't it? I've heard it'll be a bit sooner this time, but I'd still expect a significant wait. At least the reference coolers look much better.

    Best Card for 1080p?

And my point is that why spend an extra £300 now for almost no benefit? Maybe in a couple years OP'll need something more powerful, and in a couple years they'll be able to grab something like a 3070 or 6800 for way cheaper. What if there ends up being a similar performance increase from rtx...
