Well, I'm looking at the prices on other sites and they're pricing the product out of its useful range I think. OCUK will probably be a bit more expensive too based on last week's prices.
The whole "point" of the 6800XT was it was a fair bit faster than 3080 for a fair bit cheaper... now we know...
"Unfortunately, we do not have stock of this item on launch day." coming up on the site with 3-letter name. So if none of the main players have stock I guess nowhere will. The question now is, when WILL it arrive?
As others have said, its AMD's marketing department that are to blame.
Difficulties getting stuff out during a pandemic we can understand, higher prices we can understand... but lying about the prices, the launch date and the availability is what really gets us all riled up.
If they'd just said...
Going to pass at that price... as much as I need a new GPU the whole point on waiting for the Radeons was that they were supposed to be better bang-for-buck than their RTX alternatives. Now that we know the performance is less than promised and the prices they're going for are way over, I guess...
Yeah to be honest I can't see anyone leaking it... all that would do is bring even more people to the party to compete against you, so why would you? Either you genuinely want to get a card for yourself, or you're an ass that wants to get a card and put it up on ebay for 3 times the price...
Did you have to buy the world's smallest violin because you couldn't lift anything bigger? I bet that's not the only thing you've got that's the world's smallest. Amirite? :D
Seriously though... don't just lay in to people for no reason, we're all fed up on here as it is. We are now cool.
I'm pretty sure you're the only one that measures entitlement by the amount of obnoxious **** you've posted over the years.
Imagine a mobile phone launch where everyone queued up outside the store and some guy comes out and says "Right, no-one in the queue is getting a phone, this time we're...
Can't offer those of us that got rejected a coupon code that gives priority next time? Say, email everyone that got their order cancelled today a coupon code which gives a £0 discount, but then if they place an order next week you filter the orders by ones that used the code, and process those...
I don't know if I'll bother for a 6800, because its going to be overpriced and a lot slower than the 6800XT and the 3080... looking at the benchmarks it probably makes more sense to be patient and get a 3080 when the dust settles.
Yeah I think that's the thing... we're all yelling at the stores for their websites falling over, but the real problem is that AMD have effectively lied about the launch. After making a bit show of the launch, only a few UK stores were selling the card and they only had a few hundred cards each...
Ah well, I just got a "SOL" rejection email, Sapphire order went though at 14:43:28, apparently about 10 mins too late based on following this thread.
Good luck everyone still waiting.
Thanks for being visible and answering questions, its appreciated. :)
Having tried to buy stuff from lots of competitors and having no luck either I guess its an industry-wide problem. Maybe some sort of third party queuing system might be good, like they use for ticket booking sites.
I think you're a lucky one :)
When I ordered the Ryzen a couple of weeks ago it didn't track at all until the next day, and then when it did it told me no updates and looked like it hadn't been collected from OCUK until late on the day it was meant to be delivered, then suddenly it was 2 hours...
