The Pascal GTX 1080 Ti Owners Thread

I finally upgraded my whole system 13-14 months ago, was lucky enough to pick up a 6800XT for less than £700, so the 1080ti Strix went into semi-retirement. It's currently lazily sitting in my HTPC. Feel kinda bad about it, I probably should have sold it but I just can't let it go! Amazing card.

HTPC question, does anyone use MADVR with an AMD 2200g?

Yes, it'll work great for 1080p content and is functional at 4k, but you'll need beefier gfx to do 4k well. Take a look here https://www.avsforum.com/forum/26-home-theater-computers/2364113-guide-building-4k-htpc-madvr.html

    £1k gaming build

At 5Ghz I set the uncore at x45. Didn't mess with it any more as the gains don't seem worth it. Silent fan settings - CPU idle temp 26-32, load temp using Prime95 (sml FFTs, v279x64) 75-82c. Using an Air 540 with the 240AIO in the roof. Load temps with MCE on rise by 4-12c, setting fans to...

I must admit, it did feel a bit sluggish until I tinkered with the motherboards RGB and switched the LEDs off hehe. Much better now, thanks. :) I overclocked to 5gHz just to see if it would - seems quite happy at x50/x45, 1.28v, FCLCK@1gHz etc. Temps seemed OK with AVX at -3 (mid 80s). Very...

I went with tamzzy's suggestion in the end. Didn't feel I needed m.2 or all the RGB stuff, and despite all the hullaballoo about Ryzen I feel more comfortable with Intel. Also went for an Esbaer LT240 as I wasn't happy about having to move the front fan up on the NH-D15 to accomodate the RAM...

    Dell S2716DG - Dells first G-sync

Mine arrived today, A07 revision. Very impressed. I've been using a BenQ XL2411T with Lightboost up to now, but there's no comparison, really. I'm no expert but it looks amazing, and G-Sync is just incredible. Buttons are fiddly but once set-up to your liking you won't really bother with them...

Restert loop after over clock of non-k cpu.

Haha sorry, you're spot on. I assumed that under normal circumstances not all cores could run @3.5ghz with 100% load, and that multi-core enhancement forced all cores to run at maximum frequency.

Restert loop after over clock of non-k cpu.

Asus Z87/Z97 ROG boards, and perhaps others have a feature called "Multi-core Enhancement" which overrides the stock Intel settings and boosts all cores to the CPUs maximum rated frequency. I have a i7-4790K on a VII Ranger and an i3-4330 on VI Hero and the feature works on both, at the cost of...

Right, they both look really good! Is m.2 a lot faster? I already have a Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SATA and don't really want to spend more on storage. I have a Noctua NH-D14 cooler, is that ok?

Sadly my 4790K/VII Ranger system has finally given up the ghost so I would like something similar or better in performance to replace it. I only need the CPU, motherboard and RAM as I already have an R4 case, Asus Strix 1080ti OC and a BenQ XL2411T monitor, 650W gold PSU, keyboard and mouse, and...

    Where's the bottleneck?

Try looking around for a Z77 chipset motherboard and decent aftermarket cooler and overclock the hell out of that 3570K. If you're struggling graphically take a look at the GTX 1070.

    Replacement for R9 290 Tri-X OC

My R9 290 Tri-X OC has just given up the ghost (2 months past warranty grr). I'm looking for something around the £250-£300 pound mark similar in performance if possible. Suggestions please!

    Sky fibre with TP-Link TD-W9980

I've just replaced an SR101 with the TP Link W9980. Followed the instructions above and everything works great. Wireless coverage is far superior - I live in a house with stone walls and before the change I couldn't get a wireless signal in my living room (router is upstairs to the rear of the...

Watercooling newbie about to take the plunge!

I'd really like to water-cool my 4770K. Always been a bit fearful of plumbing and electricity but now I'm ready to take the plunge. Spec is 4770K, delidded, Corsair H100i and Maximus VI Hero mobo. There's also a Sapphire 290 OC in there but it seems happy enough so I won't need cooling for that...
