I went from doing 5k a year to 2-2.5k a month and it still doesn't really feel like I spend that much time in the car. I think as long as you don't spend the trip crawling along in traffic it's quite easy for the miles to roll past without you realising!
I've done a couple of trips recently via the m25 from m11 to heathrow and the cameras near the M11 area have been flashing away a lot in both directions, the first trip it flashed at me and I was doing GPS 71!
My employer pays shift uplift for any shift outside of 9-5 regular. What the actual legal requirements are other than giving the minimum rest period between shifts/per week is I don't know, however...
Expecting people to work shift patterns without any recompense seems rather unreasonable though.
I have an allstar fuelcard, which if I used it to actually buy any fuel (no stations near home take fuel cards :/) I would have to declare private mileage which would then be deducted from salary on next month's pay slip.
What I actually end up doing is buying fuel myself then putting the entry...
I'm a field service engineer so a little different to sysadmin type on call but I get paid hourly on standby at 25% of my overtime rate relevant to when the standby is i.e. 25% of time and a half or 25% of double time. If I get called out it's then the full overtime rate while I'm working on a...
There have been 2 cars in my team's fleet that have had mystery sensor faults on the gearbox that VX have been unable to fix resulting in the cars going back to them as the lease company got annoyed and another one the cambelt tensioner failed at 7000 miles or so(but dealer just slapped a new...
They have to put the reg into the system when you fill up with the card so up to you if you want to give it a go I guess! I would just fill up myself and then put the figure into the non fuel card spend box which is what I do every month as nowhere round here takes fuelcards :p
Mondeo. We've got Astras at work (although admittedly the 3000 year old 1.7 diesels) and the reliability levels are comical which combined with the god awful dealerships the cars spend most of their time at would rule Vauxhall out for me if I had a choice...
Even when people overtake they seem to be terrible at it, like they're accelerating from 20mph in 5th to try and get past a tractor/combine (and there are certainly no shortage of them out here in the fens). Then you get your overtaking spot filled by one guy crawling past when the queue of 10...
I changed my entire system a bit over a year ago from qx9650 to a 3770k, was using a single GTX580 with both before later moving to SLI. To be honest I hardly noticed a massive performance difference but it kind of entirely depends on how much cpu a game is using!
One thing I would say is the...
SLI might supposedly work in fullscreen windowed mode but if I run WoW in windowed I get less than half the FPS I do in fullscreen proper on SLI 580s...
Never really found it to be a bother in non-MMO situations as you don't tend to alt-tab so much :p
