** Official Horizon: Forbidden West Complete Edition Thread **

Just played a couple of hours. This is an exceptional presentation for a day one release - I don't recall such an easy experience for a release on the PC platform since maybe Alien Isolation. And this is a console port.. Messed around with various upscaling, AA and dynamic resolution scaling...

    New PC for Starfield?

This is the absolute best and wisest advice imo. We don't know if the title will live up to expectations or if it will be well optimized at launch. Reports are coming in that it will be locked at 30 fps on consoles, which would suggest it's going to be another rough launch from an optimisation...

    Corsair RMx Shift Series

Owners of compact cases should probably give these a pass because of the side panel space requirement, otherwise it's a useful gimmick. There are slightly more efficient alternatives, but this PSU is one of the quieter options in its class for the price at the moment. It's well built and has a...

How much time can PSU works without troubles?

I replaced a 9 year old Corsair AX860 last week, one of the best reviewed PSUs ever. The fan bearings had started to rattle, which triggered the upgrade. Even good hardware goes bad in time. Subsequently I've noticed a major reduction in DLSS3 stuttering issues on certain titles. I didn't expect...

Should I replace a 9 year old PSU?

Long story short, I actually changed it out. I originally thought it was one of the system fans, but the old AX860 was actually emmiting some fan rattle or coil whine at idle. Otherwise I'd have followed the good advice given. I'll risk it on my old low power NAS, but not on my brand new 2k rig...

Should I replace a 9 year old PSU?

I have a Corsair AX860 in a new RTX 4080 / 7800X3D build. It's old but good and running fine, but I didn't realise it's over nine years old until I came accross the receipts the other day. Would I be wise to replace it? It could go in my NAS (which has an even older PSU :o ). if I needed...

Is it safe to build a 7800X3D system yet?

It's safe. 7800x3d is a phenomenal gaming CPU. Fast and cool. Emergency over. Time to play some games

    Luckily I don't play Cinebench :D

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU Burns Up

I did this rather frivolous upgrade. No obvious difference at 4k gaming, but that could change down the road. It's a cooler chip though, and I do some other occasional workloads where the extra cores are useful.

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU Burns Up

Here's my opinion. Not long ago good tech sites had the time and experise to do the necessary work. Nowadays we're following YouTube content creators who, for the most part, don't have the expertise and resources to do this work, and are falling over each other to be the first to publish...

He's a little subjective at times, but he's a genuine enthusiast, and his position of consumer advocacy should be commended.

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU Burns Up

Sure did! It's not a good look for Asus. It looks like they don't know what they're doing, both the bios engineering and in the customer support. GM is the most respected channel right now for consumer gaming hardware. There's weight behind this. Mind you I don't think any of the other vendors...

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU Burns Up

Motherboard makers have been pushing voltages too hard for auto overclocking features as far back as I can remember. They've been called out on these shenanigens before. Those AI overclocking features they used to advertise were particular offenders. The difference here is that they've finally...

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU Burns Up

Isn't it the same for Intel/xmp? I share your frustration though. It annoys me that they get to market these products via the tech media running at these speeds, and yet they don't cover the warranty in this configuration? High time an end was put to this.

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU Burns Up

That is certainly true, YouTube is full of small time creators giving really poor advice. They're ill equiped to handle a story like this. GN stand apart from the crowd though, they've been great advocates for consumers of PC gaming hardware.

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU Burns Up

Bios says 1.264v/1.376v respectively on auto. I've lowered the SOC voltage to 1.2 manually - it runs cooler and slightly faster. Would have to run more rigourous stress tests for stability, but everything I run seems to be fine so far.

wccftech have linked the new beta Asus x670e Agesa 1.0.0.7 firmware here for various motherboard models. I've flashed the 1601 beta firmware on my x670e Tuf (7800x3d). Just enabled EXPOII, left all other CPU voltages set to auto. Ran a few 3dmark benchmarks - all stable. HW Monitor reports...
