    Thinking of moving to Cyprus

Though not a Western Country.. South Africa wants you to hold its beer. We're #1 when it comes to corruption. So brazen about it, we don't even hide it anymore. Just Google "South Africa corruption" to get an idea. It has literally destroyed the country.

    Thinking of moving to Cyprus

It all comes down to personal beliefs and circumstances. We're moving to the UK in a few months, for family. South Africa is no place to raise a family. So from our perspective, the UK is far, far better option for us. Also all our family are there. So that helps.

When are you going fully electric?

I've seen Tesla getting a lot of bad rep in. the US of late. From service issues to quality issues. Have they lost their appeal? What alternatives are there to something like a Model 3?

    Beard dying?

I can, but it's patchy and never grows long like the typical beard. Having said that; if I could grow a proper one, and it has grey hairs in it - I'd leave it. My hair is the same, got grey hairs at 35 - people comment on it all the time. I have zero issue with it so just leave it.

27" Screen that matches my MacBook screen

Hi all, I'm looking to replace my current LG 27" 4K monitor once we've moved. I have my LG monitor connected to my MBP for work and do a lot of coding / reading on it. The issue I have with the LG is that the colors are "dim" it's super noticeable when moving a window from the LG screen to...

    RC cars

Oh that’s cool. I’ll be close to Hastings when we move back as family are there. Good to know I can get some RC racing done near by. Are ther many places to go if you want off-road messing about? Nothing too serious?

    That's a crappy one.

    Your bad driving

Something I'd have to get used to when I move to the UK. In South Africa; you pick whatever lane you want. The rule is, keep left, pass right. But no one enforces it (Not even the traffic cops, if you ever see one). I could sit in the fast lane (far right) at under the speed limit and at...

WFH - From Abroad - Why not?

That depends on the sector. I've done WFH 24/7 since March 2020. In my industry, demand is very high for skilled developers and finding a cheap developer from India isn't the best idea. I have moved jobs a couple of times since 2020 - and only ever gone to an office for onboarding and such...

Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

Which would essentially mean no flying it at the beach / paths etc as there are lots of people about.

Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

It’s a DJI spark. Take off weight is 300g. I’ll take a look at the link, thanks. If it’s a bit of a mission, then I’ll probably leave it here in SA when we move.

Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

What’s the laws about flying in public areas? I have plans of doing a video / photos of the family and I riding along the beach front and the DJI drone in the air following us for a little bit. Is that sort of thing allowed?

    OcUK Dadsnet thread

100% this. Our son has routines for - Brushing teeth, - Breakfast, lunch and dinner, - Sleep We don't struggle putting him to sleep - he lays in his cot, tosses and turns a bit, drinks his juice and within 10 mins, is out like a light. As soon as we are out of routine, for whatever reason...

    OcUK Dadsnet thread

I resonate with this so very much. When my son was born; I thought "Hey cool little dude is here" And both my wife and I agreed we didn't love him yet - because she isn't that maternal and I didn't spend 9 months with him growing inside me. But at the 7-9 month mark, like you it clicked. He is...

Sold my XBSX and getting a PS5 slim

True I don’t use the touch pad much on my PS5. Come to think of it.. I wonder what it does in the current game I am playing. I do like the speaker on the PS5 controller. Used very well in some games.
