What model do you have and is it a system/heat only boiler rather than a combi?
I added the external wireless WC sensor last year (to our HX 32kW) and it has been awesome in reducing gas usage and allowing the boiler to modulate well.
It works via wireless but I do have the Smart wiring...
So was the rad 2542 or 3190? :p
Not always that simple either, was that BTU figure for a Delta 50 temp?
Hopefully it's not one of those designers rads that quote Delta 70, there's a few I've seen. Always better to oversize your rads by the right amount then you can run your boiler at a lower...
Funny thread to read regarding "Anthra****ingcite grey" :D
I would advise you not to layer greys as it'll look lifeless and monochrome.
Farrow and Ball Ammonite is a nice colour of you want a hint of grey and comes up like an off white grey (we have it throughout our hallway).
Endoscope is a good idea for a look around.
It doesn't look damp under the house, looks really dry actually.
I would be investigating more around the top of the window.
What a great read, thanks for the update. Always good to see you post up real world info like the servicing costs, these make OPCs look expensive.
My favourite part of the car has to be the re-imagined TSW Venom wheels. From Corsa B to Mac 600LT :D
Fantastic result, glad it's sorted.
I hate people trying to sell such upgrades as the "fix". At least you have the first guy for plumbing needs in the future.
Do whatever works for you and don't worry too much about rules or AV lore.
If you put them on a media unit, then ideally consider sealed speakers or ones with a forward firing bass port. Then put them on some wee isolating feet, job jobbed.
Strange as a 1900 house will be solid wall, but you clearly have a cavity outer wall there looking at the bricks.
My worry is it's a solid internal wall with an extra wall put up on the outside. Is there any DPC on the older internal wall, or just on the outside one?
I'd still be checking...
Chasing apparent "upgrades" is always a good one. It becomes like some weird addication in this hobby and comes with loads of man maths and positive reinforcement on buying decisions.
Then you just end up with a room full of speakers and equipment everywhere, unless it's integrated well into...
Just get the Q990C, it's a fantastic system and will give you far more for your buck than a cheap AV separates system.
I should know as I sold up most my fancy AV stuff after getting the Q990B and a Q930.
It's not quite as good, especially when comparing to powerful dual subs or in music, but...
Haha, it's good to chat.
Glad you had a second guy out to sort it, sounds like the first guy is similar to what I experienced. Probably knew the fault but just wanted to upsell you something you didn't need on top. Typical useless scum.
Yeah, you get the good and the bad. Too many bad ones have meant I've learned a lot more myself and take a lot less BS if I do require someone else to come in. At least I can vet them in advance.
A combi has it's place in a small place, or something like a Viesseman 111 or 222 could be a great...
The same applies to your post then :D
From my experience, professionals "plumbing fitters" can diagnose a dead circulation pump as "Need a new boiler m8" or can't do a simple heat loss calc and just want to slap in a 35kW boiler "Cos bigger is better m8, years of experience" ;)
Water doesn't...
I wouldn't get a combi. If you want the best gas condensing boiler then get a viessmann W200 with the outdoor weather comp sensor.
Sounds like the motorised valve for the hot water is the issue. Either the valve is stuck closed or the motorised head is broken/has an electrical issue.
You...
If it's the new build brick one with white garage doors and upper facade, then I'd just find something better. That Kitchen/dining is tragic for the price.
That bungalow new thing is also hilariously priced.
Not shocked that a poor vauxhall EV costs loads at an expensive public charger.
In other news, eating steak at a restaurant is more expensive than cooking one at home :p
