Ok, new build PC with a clean install of Win XP. At the moment I'm just setting it up for use with the stuff I use. Nothing much installed at all at this point, MB and graphics drivers, along with AV software. While i'm setting up windows the way I use it, getting rid of all the useless (to...

    How does this look?

Would there be much difference performance wise, between the 4GB 2x2 kit and the 4 1GB sticks? I was really just looking at the timings of the sets and going on the assumption that the 1GB sticks would be more beneficial to system performance? 4GB is plenty enough these days or is my lack of...

    How does this look?

Been awhile (3+ years  ) since I built my last PC. Only ever built a handful, so no expert here :D. Time to build a newer, more up to date system with a bit of oomph!. Now, looking at the parts these days, all seems a bit daunting and scary :D. I'm trying to get a good solid board, that...

Replacement Fan for AMD 64 3200+

Have an AMD 64 3200+ retail cpu and heatsink/fan for about a year or so now. Last few days, the fan is making a horrid buzzing/whining noise. Sure you guys know what im talking about. Question I have is, can I just replace the fan and leave the heatsink in place? Or do I gotta buy a whole new...

I actually did leave the football viewing at half time. Went off to do some of the housework  Incredibly, the missus continued to watch the game, rooting for Milan to win. Only to put one over on a mutual friend of ours thats Liverpool mad. She knew that a Liverpool win would only bring...

Has there been a change to the priorities of the performance enthusiast?

Would say performance is the main thing for me, yet I voted on cost. Mainly because if I cant afford it, I cant buy it. Always comes down to the price for me when I build a system. Space and noise are not that big a deal really. Two years of having six case fans, CPU fan and GPU fan running 24/7...
