    Trading the stockmarket (NO Referrals)

not sure why it matters. You're just selling shares, doesn't matter what price you bought them. The only thing that might matter is harvesting capital gains

What PC games are you playing?

The atmosphere it creates is very tense, it's not just a simple run round shooting everything type of game. You have to have strategies for taking on enemies and rooms, and the multiplayer aspect works well (although you pretty much have to use voice chat). I'm not really sure why I'm hooked...

What PC games are you playing?

Been playing a lot of GTFO recently. Still a game in alpha, but has a decent community at the moment and is really fun when you figure it out. I'm amazed that a game where I fail the mission 80%+ of the time still has me hooked

    Best Co-op games

I'm currently addicted to GTFO. Kind of like zombie-esque / mutant type coop game, still in alpha but plays well. You team up with up to 4 players and have to sneak round bashing the heads of zombies trying not to wake them all up. Ammo and supplies very limited and the game itself is very...

    Sony XM4s

Hi all, I've got a link to buy some sony XM4s for £240 which expires tomorrow. I've only used in-ear headphones up until now (bose qc20s - excellent although are falling apart). Convince me that I should splurge out on them, or go for something else. Main uses would be work calls (so mic...

Will UK rent prices decrease due to all the deaths?

but that is what i mean. The majority of people dying will be above pensionable age (60 something ish at the moment). If they die 1 year before their 'natural' death age, that is a saving of £150*52 = £7800 for the government. If that scales to 100,000 early deaths, that is £780m. A morbid...

Will UK rent prices decrease due to all the deaths?

I have wondered whether the country will be 're-balanced' with less pensioners after Covid-19. 100,000 excess deaths of pensioners * £150 a week * 52 = £780m a year saved (assuming they would have lived another year) What a morbid thought

House prices rose 7.3% this year, average now almost £250k

how old are you??? £2k a month rent is £960k for 40 years, plus i'm not sure you'd have been paying that 40 years ago... (of course, you could have lived in some very high spec places)

Images of items I have purchased (except trainers)

Is that really the most efficient layout for airflow? Looks like the 3 fans on the side would interrupt the airflow through the case

    Lost parcel advice

I had a very similar experience to the OP. Sold an item on ebay around the 12th December, made the mistake of posting via hermes thinking that the tracking gave me extra confidence vs. just using the Royal Mail. Item ended up getting lost, so raised a lost item claim (was bloody hard to find the...

Amazon delivery driver gets stuck on my grass

Personally I would just leave it. It doesn't look like there was any malice, just made a mistake. You report them, they potentially lose their jobs over a mistake, and who knows if they decide to come back and 'get revenge'. Bigger things to worry about in life

Laser eye treatment - who's done it?

People working from home and using MS Teams - status changes to 'Away' very quickly...

i've found that if you're actually working, it doesn't get set to 'away' that often ;) Saying that, in the early days of lockdown I recorded a macro that moved 1 cell down every few seconds on a loop and that seemed to do the trick.

    'Private' broadband providers

Hi all, Not sure how to call them, but a company called g.network (similar to hyperoptic i guess) have laid cables on my street recently and are the only fibre option now (previously no fibre option) Their intro packages look good, but do you know if in the future, other providers will be able...

    Virgin Atlantic Vs Delta Airlines?

From a risk point of view, Delta are probably slightly safer (financially) than Virgin right now as they have been given a government bail-out. If the flight is any further away than the next month or two, I would book on Delta . There have also been horror stories in trying to get money back on...

Completely out of the loop with today's tech - upgrade advice

I probably won't be too much help, but I just did an upgrade from pretty much an identical set up as you have. I went for a Ryzen 5 3600, X470 MB and 2x8GB of 3200Mhz RAM, plus a RX580 GFX card, which is the last generation. I have to say it is so so much faster now. I'll give you a bit of...

    Spec me a budget build

thanks, I went for the 580 in the end. Which hopefully completes my build, coming in just over 3 times my budget! Thanks for your help, hopefully that'll last me another 5 years

    Spec me a budget build

thanks - it seems the second hand market is around £140 for the 580, so will probably just go for the security of a new one. I was thinking of flogging off my core2duo setup on ebay, but it looks like i'd have to pay someone to take it off my hands!

    Spec me a budget build

Thanks all for your help. Just an update, my £20 upgrade has turned into: - AMD Ryzen 5 3600 - MSI X470 gaming plus max MB (was cheaper than the tomahawk) - Corsair RAM 3200Mhz - A new cheapo WD Blue M2 SSD 512GB - New monitor Also in the market for a new GFX card, probably a RX580. I'm not...
