*** OcUK VR Sim Racing Thread ***

Is this open to late entrants? I've just picked up AMS2 but not yet got it running and tried in VR. I might be up for joining in a couple of weeks after some hotlap practice.

Old boy in the photo was the driver actually, wonder if it's a show car rather than driven hard. Maybe so given it's still on the road :D Just looked at prices, 40k! They were 25k new and I remember them being ~10k about 20 years ago.

I didn't realise they only made 1500 Clio V6s. There used to be a yellow one around here many years ago too.

Need help with a PCN...signage on the opposite side of the road

As a country boy I'm completely baffled at a road being restricted during certain hours. Are you supposed to enter the area from somewhere else? Also, would they have to manually review every car from the footage? Seems like a job worse than that of a parking warden. Seems like a lot of costly...

Can't help but feel for Norris. Always the bridesmaid never the bride. It's such a shame McLaren has found it's pace but RB are just in another postcode. We should be seeing a scrap for the lead at least once or twice without other misfortunes. Unless McLaren do a Brawn he may never see a race...

The 50k 10 Year Project / Show Car

Think Project Binky; but with a Delorean. Make it the car it should have been, modernise the interior & chassis but keep it looking stock but with a decent stance and wheel fitment. I'd shoot for ~350-400bhp with a lightweight V6 of some description and lose as much weight as possible...

    Quest 3 owners etc

I picked up a basic used 128GB Quest 3 at the weekend. I hope to use it for sim racing eventually but I think PCVR will need some time to setup properly (I briefly tried ACC but I wasn't happy with the positioning of the camera etc). I have played with the default experiences to demo the...

    Finally, we're getting FTTP, woo-hoo!

Oops. I meant 1000/120. Confused myself because I only opted for ~500/70 due to cost vs what I can utilise right now, but the most we can order is 1000 despite Openreach quoting 1800. Seems they have launched 1.2 and 1.8 levels for wholesale so it will only be a matter of time for providers to...

    Finally, we're getting FTTP, woo-hoo!

We moved in August to an area without FTTP and had the same build by date. I almost vetoed the house for it's paltry 30 meg but came to my senses eventually. 6 months later we've just had it installed (which included cutting a channel up my drive). If you do some googling you can find PDF...

    Clutch + Flywheel cost opinion?

My 2009 2.0 TDCI has an old receipt for £2k for the same job quite a few years and miles ago so it's not a bad quote for the work itself. Mines on 178k now. Had both front top mounts done due to some creaking noises (£160 each side) but otherwise it's not cost me much in the last 4 years. I...

The best car chases in films?

Could more: Nic Cage driving the yellow F355 in The Rock. Bad Boys 2, daft chase in the F550.

The best car chases in films?

Yep, this, first thing that came to mind. Of it's time but very good. Most bond films have had a decenct car chase, Fast n Furious franchise from good to ridiculous, the original French version of Taxi (1998), The Transporter, Who Am I (Jackie Chan), the original Herbie films were good fun too.

Would Paris be too busy in August, if so alternatives?

My partner went last August for a whistle stop tour. It was busy, but not awful. We managed to do all the main places such as the tower, Louvre, Arc de Triomphe, Place De La Bastille, The Madeleine Church and we also did the Montparnasse Observation Deck (I enjoyed this, nice views, go at...

Owning a TVR is like buying a one-way train ticket. For them there's nothing like a flask of early grey and a cucumber sandwich whilst watching steam trains roll by in the distance, patiently waiting for the AA to arrive.

BeamNG.drive with CRD Monster Truck Pack mod. My 5 year old loves it, authentic physics and crashes. We've been playing it to practice using a contoller and there's nothing like it to feed a 5 year olds thirst for wanton destruction consequence free.

What have you done to your car today?

Really feeling the strain of running old cars today. My other halves utterly terrible Megane (2011) had just had £1400 worth of work done (brakes, caliper, handbrake, wishbone, two tyres and other bits) and is due its MOT. I noticed a bulb was out, no problem I'll stick another in. Turns out...

    Show Us Your Motors!

Love it. I've not seen one on the road yet but the turbo era Type-Rs don't seem as common as the EP3 & FN2 were. I do miss my EP3 sometimes. I hate the rear wing however I wouldn't say no to one as a daily in a few years. 50k! Wow. The EP3 was 16k and FN2 was about 18k IIRC.
