Tried to order here at 2pm but got stuck with animated icon when adding to basket. So had to go elsewhere. Got a 5800x.
But thumbs up to OC for shipping my 3080 today ;)
My build is now complete.
I have noticed complaints in the Official Intel® forums (you know the company that makes computer chips) that TopTechCashback is NOT related to the real 'Intel'
Here is a quote"
am afraid to say this is not an Intel® Official page. As you can see the email domain for their support contact...
Be VERY careful with this offer guys: just had my claim rejected (for something I bought before Xmas) and had forgotten about!
At the time of purchase there was no mention of a maximum claim time frame, only that you could not claim for 30 days (Almost as if they want you to forget!!)
Dear...
Well due to an opportunity I could not resist I've actually now updated to a
HIS 7970 X Ghz edt card!
Never thought I would switch back to ATI but so far I have been impressed!
Good framerates with BF3 and it never goes above 65C... My last two 580's would both be in the 80's! and I...
OK so I was playing today on a 50 player server, I was getting decent FPS (80+) But my VRAM was @1495 so at the very upper limit.
Does that mean it is running out? Or just right.
Yeah but I'm going from 2 GTX 580's to 1 GTX 670.. So I guess I will expect a drop 30-40% drop! - Question is will BF3 still be playable, especially with these new maps.
Maybe it was a server load issue, I assume my [email protected] should be able to cope on the client side? I shall investigate further this evening by adding the Vram usage to Afterburner and also trying a few different servers.
OK. I was playing A.K last night and was getting very low framerates dips into the 40's.
I have 2x580 (1.5gb) cards and normally average 80+ often over 120fps in the previous maps.
Could it be that with these larger maps I'm hitting a VRAM limit of my cards?
Anyone else experiencing this?
Ok so last night I was playing on the new BF3 DLC Armored Kill maps and my framerate was dipping down to the 40's.. I hope with these new larger maps I'm not hitting the VRAM limit? - Otherwise I should make the jump even sooner?
I will need to google to see if anyone else is having problems.
Well I've been umming and arrrring for a while now, at one stage I had both 580's on the fleabay but pulled them.
But again today I'm back to thinking I'll just sell them both for enough money to get the Gigabyte Windforce 670.. So it'll run nice and quiet, cooler, and use less power and...
So would using Nvidia Adaptive Sync be any better? - I don't really want to run the cards at 100% if they don't need to be. (That's what causes all the heat/noise)
I'm glad I switched the in game V-sync off though; the advantage was immediatly obvious.
So I might take the cards off the...
OK so last night I thought I would Un-cap the 60FPS (V-sync) limit to see if it made any difference to my gaming.
Playing BF3 Close Quarters - which are very fast pased (quake stype) maps @1920x1200 I seemed to have a definate advantage when running uncaped @~150fps+
Maybe it was my...
Interesting, I assumed the Gainward GOOD 580's were quieter than the stock 580's.. I know they were noisy but didn't realise that were that bad!
They are not too bad as long as I run games with V-sync and thus limiting to 60FPS.. then they are not running at full speed.
What would be a...
Is anyone running this and playing BF3 - Any problems with Punkbuster?
That was one of the issues I hit when I upgrading to Win7 Release candidate; the Punkbuster guys point bank refused to support pre-release OS; then they took an age once the Final was released.
So I've had my current rig for over a year now.
I game on a single 28" 1920x1200 monitor. (no plan to go larger / higher res)
I do like to have most things maxed out in games.
Current favourites are BF3 & Max Payne 3
So I've always thought 2 x 580's were a bit of overkill but was...
