    Show us your kitty cats

Ahh that sucks :( One of ours had cancer a couple of years back, it wasn't fair to see her suffer. Still upsets me thinking about it now, but I know ultimately it was the right thing to do. Are you still having the vets come to the house? It definitely makes a difference if your vets will do...

    Mortgage Rate Rises

Ah there's far worse off than me. Thankfully I've always been frugal and a saver so I have good buffers in place incase anything like that happened. I hadn't actually considered using the interest from savings to offset the increase of mortgage payments come deal renewal time. Although...

    Mortgage Rate Rises

That was one of the things I was thinking about. It will depend on what the interest rates are towards the end of next year really. However, I've also had a shock to my income in the last 12 months (redundancy last July after 20 years with the company) I'm now on minimum wage as I've changed my...

    Mortgage Rate Rises

I have about £68.5k left on my mortgage (apparently zoopla estimates its worth around £310k although I'm not sure how accurate it is), on a fixed rate of 1.69% until Dec 2025 and a total of 14 years and 7 months on the total term. So the total I could pay, as you say is 10% a year unless I want...

Ah but cats like to be up high to survey their dominion and their slaves from above.

    Mortgage Rate Rises

Well yeah. As life has taught me, nothing ever seems to benefit the consumer when it comes to money. I dont bother overpaying now. Well not directly anyway. Due to the savings interest rate being so much higher than my mortgage rate, I save the overpayments and I am just going to pay a lump sum...

    Mortgage Rate Rises

That's the same as mine with TSB. If I make overpayments it reduces future monthly repayment amount, the total term stays the same, but I don't have to go through any new affordability checks. If I want it to reduce the total term with the overpayment then I have to go through a complete...

Premium Bonds - If you post to say how much you've won, please also say how much you have invested.

That's actually not a bad return though :p A £1 investment to hit £50 after 30 years is around 14% interest a year (compounded yearly)

    Career guidance/advice for adults?

I am in a similar situation, 40 in April. Although slightly different circumstances (Redundancy after 20 years in telecoms last July) Retrained in IT via self study of CompTIA A+ and Network+, just starting in March as a trainee IT support technician. It is a rather large drop in pay, but that's...

    Need inspiration for a job!

Well another update. It was quiet over Christmas and New Year. Applied for around 25-30 jobs just after new year. Didn't think I'd hear much in all honesty. However I ended up with around 10 of them ask for interviews/team calls etc. I went to my first face to face on 8th Feb, and was offered...

Could always ring your local vets/wherever you take Ron etc, see what they say. If he isn't too stressed about going in a carry box, there'd be no harm in just taking him to get scanned if you suspect he's actually lost/stray/being neglected etc.

    Broken Arrow

:D The new Army General mode is still in its infancy at the moment. There is a play through on youtube here -

    Broken Arrow

It will have once finished. Similar to their Wargame series of games. In its current state it has skirmish battles against AI or multiplayer. 2 game modes - One is basically hold areas to accumulate deployment points and the other is rack up points by destroying more stuff than your opponent...

    Broken Arrow

It's definitely worth a go. It seems to get updated quite regularly during its early access, and it's keeping the itch scratched waiting for Broken Arrow :D

    Broken Arrow

Have you played Warno? That's similar to Broken Arrow albeit slightly earlier timeline.

    NVIDIA 4000 Series

Nothing really - Until I can get a minimum of 50% performance upgrade at the £650 price I paid for my 3080, I won't be budging. I'll wait to see what the next generation of GPU's will do. Hopefully by then, whichever card comes in at around £650 will be at least 50% faster, maybe more.

    *** Xbox Series X|S - General Discussion Thread ***

I stopped for now as I needed to concentrate on passing some IT certifications to try get myself back in work after "voluntary" redundancy! I compled the first province area. Does it get better as it goes on? It was a little on the slow side.

    *** Xbox Series X|S - General Discussion Thread ***

I don't think the series S holds back development of series X. It's not like having to support last gen consoles in the sense that they had different hardware architecture. The series S has the same architecture as in the series X, just at a lower performance target i.e. series x tends to to...
