My new gaming laptop is underperforming

Ah thanks, I didn't realise this when I bought it. Performance is probably about right then :) Seems like a waste to give this laptop a 144hz screen when it will never be able to hit anywhere near that.

My new gaming laptop is underperforming

Thanks for the reply. A 2019 £1000 gaming laptop should be able to play a 2010 game and get more than 60-80 fps. The video you linked showed that the 1660Ti gets 58fps average in Metro Exodus, which was released in 2019. Something is limiting my laptop's performance

My new gaming laptop is underperforming

Hi I recently bought the ROG Zephyrus GA502DU. Out of the box, I updated the chipset drivers, graphics drivers and bios. I've set it to use the 1660ti and not the integrated gpu. On metro 2033 I am gettting around 80fps on max settings, around 120 on lowest settings. This game is 11 years old...

    ~£100 budget, speakers/HiFi

Okay thanks for all the advice everyone! Situation has slightly changed. A friend had a decent pair of Onkyo passive speakers lying around and has given them to me for free. So I'm potentially looking at getting an amp for these. I'm thinking that this way my money will take me a bit further.

    ~£100 budget, speakers/HiFi

Thanks guys! To make sure I've understood you correctly, these speakers will perform better as standalones than my current speaker+HiFi set up. And should I wish to connect these microlab ones up to an amp in the future, that could improve them further?

    ~£100 budget, speakers/HiFi

Thanks for the reply. Those look great, however, surely I would need some sort of amp/hifi to use these anyway? I'm only planning on plugging a laptop/mobile phone into it, so I'd need a way to connect via 3.5mm.

    ~£100 budget, speakers/HiFi

I recently bought this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-CMTS20B-All--Audio-System-Silver/dp/B00DMEDXV4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1419963902&sr=8-1&keywords=cmts20b However, the sound is slightly too tinny, the bass is almost good enough, and they just don't go loud enough (each speaker is 5W). I'm...

At least it's good to know that they were actually working! I always imagined my lats being so tight that the fibres are bunched up together refusing to work. On a related note, I've now added in hanging from a pullup bar onto the end of my sessions. As I may have mentioned before, they give me...

    wozza2k's pursuit of vanity

Doing heavy squats should not be necessary for warming you up for deadlifts. There must be some other way that you can warm up for deadlifts. Do you have any mobility deficits that would hamper your deads? Main thing for deads I guess is hip abducion, extension and hamstrings.

I've always struggled with conscious control of whether my glutes are active during a squat. I can just about manage it with a bodyweight squat but as soon as I'm lifting with a weight my control over my glutes is minimal. Do I need to do glute activation exercises, or something else for better...
