What "man jobs" have you done today?

Sprayed some weeds growing through paths in the crack and cleaned the back windows. The window cleaner has gone AWOL on me after buying out the last persons round who retired

    Random 3D printing chatter

HMRC very kindly decided to give me tax refund, and this afternoon I successfully failed at talking myself out of buying a 3d printer. Going to pick up a Bambu P1S Combo tomorrow.

What "man jobs" have you done today?

Retired the ADSL router, filter and landline phone. Virgin FTTP came into the area, speed tests have gone from 30-38mb to 1100+. It was tough after moving house for these few years. Had 200-300mb Virgin cable then down to peasant ADSL at 36mb!

    ** Official Ubuntu Thread **

I'm on Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS on an old PC, since my windows PC died and is awaiting a new motherboard. Don't really know what I'm doing with Ubuntu, it's been so far so good, but I've noticed especially after a system software update, Vivaldi shows a dialog on startup when it fails to decrypt an...

What "man jobs" have you done today?

Did some skimming again, covering a few bits of plasterboard and chases. I still can't plaster.

    Mafia: The Old Country

Agreed, I can say the same thing for Kingdome Come Deliverance. The link between those is Daniel Vávra so I can only presume the man is a genius!

Did I choose the worst tiler in the world? scratched tiles

How is Barkeepers Friend best used? Sprinkle some onto a damp cloth? Topps weren't interested in looking at this from the start, it took several days before they even asked for the batch number. They've ignored that I found one tile scratched which hadn't been touched by anyone - I cleaned it...

Did I choose the worst tiler in the world? scratched tiles

Yeah from what I can tell there aren't many scratches that line up - some definitely do. But the scratches are all over the place, every direction. Most tiles around the hob are the worst, there is the odd tile which is perfect in amongst all those so does this point to an issue with the tile...

Did I choose the worst tiler in the world? scratched tiles

I didn't pay any attention to the state of his tools, I've got no idea what is what for tiling so it was all left to the professional, or so I thought!! Going to have a close look over the spare tiles again, and I left a few alone to try and rub the wax off with some force, to see if that was...

Did I choose the worst tiler in the world? scratched tiles

Thought I'd found a reputable tiler, locally based and has photos of his work, 30 years experience. This was after arranging 4 quotes, having 2 arrive and 1 giving a price. After he'd grouted, he noticed loads of scratches on the tiles and said they must have been in the tile before he started...

What "man jobs" have you done today?

Started yesterday with installing a double waste (washer and dryer) on a standpipe. Had to abandon the dryer part as I'd lost the additional hose (i thought you re-routed the current hose) Searched around yesterday, couldn't find it. Couldn't even think where it may be and the dryer is probably...

Finally.....after 18 months this wardrobe is almost completed. In this time I did have twins then my wife died....you know, just standard stuff... Before During After I did get a structural engineer to look at removing some of the uprights, but it involved too much work and was outside the...

    Cities Skylines 2 is Official!

Game is absolutely playable for now, spec in sig and resolution 3440x1440. GPU is running hot at around 80% utilisation and CPU is around 20%. Done the recommended tweaks, disable dof etc. I do miss holding the right mouse button to pan the camera around, hopefully there is a mod soon. Where can...
