Just use it. If you don't notice anything you're fine. Seriously.. don't train your brain to spot issues you wouldn't otherwise see. If you're determined then there's 2 basic checks. The first is open a black background or dark movie and make sure there's no major backlight problems. Even...

    *** Dell UltraSharp U2410 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor @ £447.99 inc VAT ***

That's correct. However the original purchaser is still listed by Dell as the owner, even though they will perform a warranty exchange to whichever name and address you tell them. So it doesn't really affect too much, unless maybe the screen was stolen or something. Most Dell employees (and...

Works Number label with the original buyers details (on the Dell box). You then email a certain Dell address, but I don't know it off-hand.. sorry. It's probably in this thread somewhere, otherwise you'll need to search it :) Remember: no works number on the box, no warranty with Dell itself.

That's correct. But remember those 3rd parties are supplying multiple websites. This means they are likely to be getting regular deliveries from Dell, which means that products are generally sitting in a warehouse for a lot less time than if websites kept their own stocks. The typical time...

Correct, if you means Dells warranty. As far as Dell is concerned they have sold the monitor to whoever purchased it from them originally, not the end user. I know you're thinking "that can't be true" but, as others with personal experience will tell you, it is correct! Any warranty offered by...

Personally, unless you know the seller is super reliable, I would not recommend Ebay to anyone. Even then Paypal can sometimes make life a nightmare. It'd be my very last resort.. As for Dell's warranty, the info is buried somewhere in this thread, but I'll "boil it down" as best I can. (It's...

Because a TN panel comes with issues built in to the technology. First, it's 6 bit colour. "Simulated" 8 bit dither or not, in colour rich content it just doesn't look as good in my opinion Vs the IPS true 8 bit (256 values for R,G and B). It doesn't stop there either. In content with fine...

There is NO fix for tint issues, and there never will be, other than for LG to perfect their panel making process (unlikely). All Dell can do is either pay LG to sort panels with tighter colour gradation tolerances (this would be cost prohibitive for anything but ultra high end medical displays...

Unlikely. Much more likely is that the capacitive touch buttons are a PITA to trigger properly. It easily took me over 10 minutes the first time to do it and, even now I know how, it'd probably take me a dozen attempts to get it right ;) Try pressing harder - Not too hard, but to the point...

There are Display Port power management issues. A02 supposedly contained fixes for many of them, but (if you're using A02 and it's still giving you issues) I'd recommend you use the DVI input. Otherwise it's just Vista in combination with your graphics card drivers and whatever. The screen...

    Dell UltraSharp U2410 or wait?

As LCD's age the back light will create a dimmer picture which changes in colour (meaning your default white probably ends up being a bit more yellow etc). So the colours start out accurate but start to get less so as the screen acquires usage, meaning you'd still have to calibrate the screen...

Just so some of you know, there've been reports of Dell sending out firmware revision A02 U2410's, with a version number of M1F193, in the last 2 to 3 weeks. As well as a report on HardOCP, someone posted this on an Italian forum.. (Original post here...

Dell U2410 - honest opinions please

If it's a high end NEC they have corrective controls to help with panel uniformity. If it's a lower end one then he simply got lucky and received a good panel ;) Sounds partly like the backlight in combination with the screen coating. Turning the brightness up a little tends to help level out...

    Best 24" - Dell U410?

Hmm, I don't know enough to make much comment. NEC seem to be a decent company to deal with, but that screen is definitely on their "budget" end, and I've gotten the impression (rightly or wrongly) that there've been more people posting with uniformity issues with that screen compared to...

    Best 24" - Dell U410?

I doubt the Asus will be as expensive as that. Hopefully competition will help drive prices down :) The U2410 is (IMO) overpriced by at least £100 in the UK, which gives plenty of room for competitors to undercut it - if they want to. If I was buying now I'd at least give the ZR24W a chance...

    Best 24" - Dell U410?

Yep.. I know what ya meant.. hence the smiley ;) :D Just that the U2410 is, perhaps, sold a bit short these days, and I can't help feeling a bit responsible for that. Although a lot of the criticisms about it are entirely valid and fair, the reality is there's not a whole lot better on offer...

    Best 24" - Dell U410?

I don't agree (at least in its price range :) ) It's my opinion that, as long as you're ok with a screen having wide gamut colours, the U2410 is amongst the best screens in terms of image quality at its price. Dells UK pricing policies and its attitude towards its customers is a different matter...

    HP 'new' ZR24w

Does anyone know how the ZR24W fairs in the Lagom.nl black level and white level tests? On the U2410 I can see square 1 on the black level test, and square 254 on the white level test. I'm curious if these monitors can manage that, since the impression some have given is that you maybe can't see...

    HP 'new' ZR24w

In many (many) parts of the UK £350 is much more than 1 week of wages. The minimum wage (which is the living reality for millions of people in the UK) is £5.80, or £232 for a 40 hour week - before you even consider living expenses and taxes like VAT. Yep, many areas of the world have it much...

    HP 'new' ZR24w

Even if it did it's likely it wouldn't be as severe due to the more limited colour gamut. Great prices (if they hold) on these screens btw - Finally someone who's not totally ripping the UK off on price, given that many have it listed below £310 inc vat. For that reason alone I hope it avoids...
