What "man jobs" have you done today?

Yes, use one pretty much exclusively, so much less mess! I used to borrow my neighbours but I recently bought a knock off from Lidl and it works fine. I do have the high pressure lance also but I much prefer the patio cleaner, see my earlier comment about mess. I use a K2 but its pretty weak...

    Chinese cars

Another perfect demonstration of total nonsense posted by Nasher.

    Chinese cars

I hope you’ve picked up that the Cyberster was designed in London and the G-Waggon isn’t Chinese since posting.

When are you going fully electric?

The Cyberster is everything the gen 2 Tesla Roaster should have been before distraction and scope creep set in. Tesla could have released a car with these specs years ago and they would have sold tens of thousands of not hundreds of thousands of them by now. I can’t help but think that MG are...

20mph residential speed limit (replacing 30mph)

Agreed on that, not sure what the aversion is to *5 mph speed limits is in this country.

    Solar panel production figures

We had a peak of 7.19kw for about 30 seconds, the rest of the day was a crock of clouds. 19.5 in total.

What "man jobs" have you done today?

Try sodium hydrochoate (swimming pool cleaner). It’s basically bleach but it’s 15% instead of 5% that you may put down the toilet.

This is getting ridiculous (energy prices - Strictly NO referrals!)

as long as you don’t consume a chunk of that energy between 4 and 8 then yes.

This is getting ridiculous (energy prices - Strictly NO referrals!)

You say that but it’s not just old biddies rallying against pylons.

This is getting ridiculous (energy prices - Strictly NO referrals!)

We have loads on interconnects with every neighbouring country in Europe already. The pylons are needed to get the power to those interconnects also. In reality, we need new gas powered power stations as well for the foreseeable because the wind doesn’t blow all the time and the ones which are...

This is getting ridiculous (energy prices - Strictly NO referrals!)

Yup, it’s all about getting the pylons up but the NIMBYs are fighting them every step of the way. The irony is their argument is because of the environment - you couldn’t make it up really. It’s gone beyond NIMBY now, they are very much in ‘over my dead body’ mode.

Solar panels and battery - any real world reccomendations?

My strategy is using intelligent Octopus, I charge my battery to full overnight daily and I export all my surplus generation during the day. I’ve got a big array (10kw split east/west) and a 13.5kwh battery but I’ve also got a heat pump and full EV to charge to my usage is also high. Those on...

*** Official Ubiquiti Discussion Thread ***

Note sure the Pro Max if aimed at existing SE or Pro owners. High availability is a rather expensive endeavour for home internet and not sure there is a huge need for raid 1 on protect cameras either. If you did need it, you probably have their dedicated NVR anyway.

Solar panels and battery - any real world reccomendations?

It’s entirely dependent on your usage and generation/export. The general rule of thumb is if your export is more than 1.4 times your import then flux may be the way to go otherwise Intelligent Octopus Go or Agile tend to work out better. Regular ‘Go’ doesn’t tend to fare favourably due to low...

When are you going fully electric?

The 0-60 and top speed are listed as the same so I’d guess it’s just measured in a different way for … reasons. the missing word is probably regulatory. Edit: I’d take a punt at peak power for a few seconds and sustained max power.

    Home Assistant beginners

As a bit of closure on this one - I spent a further hour fiddling with the Pi and then binned it off. I've got it set up as a VM on my Unraid box now and its behaving itself. The performance is a lot better too.
