    Ant's, what really kill's them.

+1 for Nippon bait stations. Boiling water is fine on gaps in paving etc but it kills soil for years if you pour it on grass. We had 2 nests in the front garden and while a few kettles full of boiling water did kill admittedly kill the nests, there were still bald patches on the lawn 2 years...

    Remapping worth it?

I've had a remap for 5 years, it's driven daily and the occasional track day, and so far so good. It's a little mx5 and I got a switchable Ecutek map with race rom features. Economy has indeed improved: Stock mpg: high 20s day to day and low 30s on a long run. Remap: low 30s day to day and...

Road to Rotary: Japan to France in an RX7

Sounds like a proper adventure. My first thoughts were rotary specialist places might be a bit thin on the ground, and what is the range on an RX7?

    Dead Nissan Leaf help!

Yep, my Bradex Big Eight is an analogue charger that must be 30 years old, but it'll pump power into anything. As said above though, batteries that are that far gone need replacing, but the analogue charger can keep you mobile while you source a replacement.

What have you done to your car today?

Changed the engine oil and filter. Topped up brake fluid after a caliper change last weekend. Washed it.

    Clutch + Flywheel cost opinion?

With 170k miles on the clock I'd be reluctant to sink £1200 into the car. Is it still running on original suspension? Is it largely rust free? Cambelt change due(unless chain)?

    Painting rotors

I painted the hub bit of my rear discs with silver Hammerite (standard Hammerite) when I replaced them, and they still look good now 4 years later. So, when I replaced the front discs I did the same, but after 4 laps of the Nurburgring Nordschleife the paint was blistered. From memory standard...

    Replacing a single tyre

My previous car, a focus, didn't seem to mind one newer tyre, though if the other side was near the limit I'd get 2 while I was there. My current car, an MX5, is really fussy with tyres. Even a couple of mm difference makes it handle terribly.

    Family dispute incoming

Well, time will tell how OP's sister reacts to the knowledge that @potatolord now knows what's going on. The sister is clearly treating the high value item as her own possession. I reckon that when OP supports mum in trying to get it back for her, which he will, the sister will act very hard...

    Spec me some bathroom scales

Salter digital bathroom scales are on special for about £12 at Tesco at the moment. I've had a pair for nearly 10 years and they're really good. Accurate to a 10th of a lb and very slimline, I slide them under our divan bed when not in use. There's also some sort of body fat calculator thing...

    Games you're playing, and games...

Just completed Hello Neighbor 2 with the Mrs acting in an advisory capacity and me at the controls (PS5). We really liked it, though it did seem unfinished come the end. Has anyone got any suggestions for a good first person puzzly adventure game?

    GTA 6 leaks

Just got 100% completion on the PS5 version of GTAV, and also completed pretty much all the other challenges I could find. I've completed the game on pc and PS3 over the years, but installed it in PS5 as a homage as I never got 100% before. It's now removed from the machine and I'm waiting for...

    This has freaked me out

@SexyGreyFox Tbh you should be more concerned with stuff that you look into on your private devices showing up on your work machine! You are being monitored.

Should smart phones be banned for under 16s?

I'm so glad mobile phones weren't around when I was a kid.

Power Tools & General Tools Recommendations & Advice

I accidentally dropped my DeWalt led lamp with 4amp battery in an aquarium on the weekend. The light stayed on but the unit began bubbling away as water was presumably getting in. I took the battery top off (X4 security torx screws) and a bit of water had got in. I couldn't get at the screws...

    Mattresses - I need knowledge

We've been sleeping on a silent night cheap and cheerful 'Essentials' pocketed spring mattress for 7 years and though it still feels fine to me, the springs now make the odd noise and the Mrs says it has a "groove" on my side. I'm a side sleeper. Seeing as it only had a 3 year guarantee, it's...

    Family dispute incoming

@potatolord It sounds like an awkward conversation to have, but I understand why you feel the need to have it. I think using this thread to voice your concerns and let off some steam is a good idea before speaking to mum about it. Do come back and update the thread with the outcome, if you...

Has anyone made their own car ramps from wood?

They look fine, but the design must be ancient. Width: 135mm to 185mm! What car has 135mm tyres nowadays? I inherited a set from my father that look identical and must be at least 50 years old. Even getting a small car up them involved such careful positioning due to them being so narrow that...
