    USB-C Power Delivery (PD)

Thanks for the responses folks! After a little more digging (and picking up a cheap 45w PD unit), things are still no clearer. :D I'm not sure at this point if my current daily laptop is just picky, or if some of the newer chargers I have (65w and 100w PD) can't negotiate down for some reason...

    USB-C Power Delivery (PD)

Hello Fine Forum Folks. I am looking for some information and experiences on using USB-C Power Delivery, or PD, in conjunction with newer mobile device and Laptops. The standards and Internet Searches only bring more confusion. The reason to ask is this; I have, as I suspect others do, a...

    Valve announces the SteamDeck

Had the same issue with the Amex I normally use for game purchases. PayPal worked for me after the Amex declined.

    Distro for an old Netbook?

Aha, understood. Most likely your experience trumps mine in that case!:p Unfortunately nonfree doesn't equal reliable!

    Distro for an old Netbook?

You should be able to get the WiFi to work on vanilla Debian by enabling the 'nonfree' repository in the software centre, then installing the firmware package for the WiFi card manufacturer (e.g. firmware-atheros). The alternative is to install a different card that runs without nonfree...

    Valve announces the SteamDeck

Received mine today, the 512GB version. All of the excited noises as the tracking hadn't updated. :D Got a screen protector on order as the Kids are climbing over themselves to have a go!

Just had a note to say mine has been despatched! Still in the Netherlands. Page refresh. Still in the Netherlands... Fingers crossed to have it early next week. :)

Got a hardware problem. BSOD and boot cycling after installing a new gfx card and updating the mobo bios

This. Sounds like a potential driver conflict. Use safe mode if you can't do it in regular boot to remove and clean with DDU. Reboot and do a clean installation.

Upgraded - now get issues when pc has been idle

I've seen a similar issue when some of the old GPU driver is left behind and you essentially have two versions running simultaneously. If I recall you shouldn't have to as the driver is unified for NVidia cards, but a clean GPU driver installation never hurts. Windows may also have helpfully...

    Need help with some Ansible

Would have been interesting to see your issue, and how it was resolved. Feel free to drop me a PM if you wish to talk Ansible; I'm no expert but do use it regularly to configure various systems.

Does such a cable exist? DC to Type C

Be aware that a lot of USB-C power supplies and devices do a degree of handshaking before power supply begins. That being said, there are some power supplies I have seen with USB-C outlets from 5 up to 20 volts that can charge/run a variety of devices including Laptops. Have a look for USB-C...

Debian To Consider Changing How It Treats Closed-Source Firmware

As a Debian user in both Desktop & Server uses, I personally like the split-out of the proprietary/closed source/blobs into a separate repository. I think the issue comes down to wanting regular users to consider it and not needing to 'figure it out', as opposed to 'it doesn't work' and moving...

    No one Folding anymore

Had a machine or two running for Team 10 a few years ago. Been difficult with two Kiddies in the house to keep the noise and heat down, not to mention the current electricity pricing issues. I could run during my cheaper 'charging' period , call it heating during the winter. :D I do miss the...

    Project: Negative10

A great looking build so far! Always nice to see creativity & DIY to the rescue. I've been looking into a wallmount case to tidy up my rats nest of cables, but the few purchase-able options are pricey. Following with great interest. :)

    TPM 2.0 and secure boot

Secure boot should be a separate set of options to the TPM 2.0 settings in your BIOS. I don't have a suitable machine to check myself, but there should be guides online or in the documentation for your Motherboard. Good luck!

What Linux Operating Systems do you like?

A Debian user here, across both Desktop & Server applications. Underrated in my opinion, the essentially rolling development (sid) version is fantastic for gaming. The LTS versions are rock solid for Server applications. Settled a few years ago after distro-hopping between the Arch distros...

    ZFS Replication

It was my intention to stripe across both mirrors for maximum benefit, if possible to do so. I do keep both a local and a remote backup of the critical data, which is only a few hundred Gigabytes. The rest can be re-acquired in the event of a doomsday scenario. Based on your suggestion, I...

    ZFS Replication

Happy Thursday all. I would like to request advice with regards to moving data between ZFS pools on different machines. I currently have a 2-bay server with a ZFS Mirror looking after my data. I have acquired a second server with 4 bays, and an additional 2 hard disks of the same size of...
