So a quick update here. I replaced the stock cooler with the Noctua NH-D15 Chromomax Black and used their supplied thermal paste. Brought my idle temps down to about 35*C and temps under load are around 50-60*C peaking at 70*C under heavy load with the heating on. It has stopped cutting out...
So I did a bit of thinking on this and I believe I've figured out what's happening.
For some reason the CPU is running exceedingly hot on occasions breaching 100*C. From what I've read, higher temps increase CPU power usage and this combined with a possibly failing PSU/potentially power spikes...
I just noticed my CPU temps are 96*C CPU load is about 60%. I'm using the stock intel cooler as my Corsair H80i broke. Could those temps be causing any issues?
Thanks for the heads up :) I'll have a look at all the connection points as you mentioned. I did strip the PC down, clean the case and put it back together last year. Could that have caused this issue?
The frequency is bizarre, sometimes once or twice a day, sometimes nothing for a week or two...
Thanks Blue160, you confirm my suspicions on the PSU. I guess you're right, the only way to find out is to replace the PSU and go from there. I just hope it doesn't into a money pit ...
Thanks mickyflinn. I've running everything stock and I've got the 750W Corsair RM Series 80PLUS Gold Modular...
Hi all,
Long time lurker here in need of some help. My desktop will cut out power completely (all monitors black out and all fans/activity seems to stop) and then power itself back on almost immediately and start posting. Sometimes it happens a few times a day and sometimes it won't happen for...
Hey guys,
Long time lurker here, but I see a lot of people here are quite informed about cars so I thought I'd ask for a second opinion.
I have a beautiful MKVI Golf 1.4 TSI (122PS) SE, manual, 09 plate with 77K on the clock. It has always been my trusty steed and we have owned it for almost...
I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling this pain. Have bought so many add-ons and steam sale impulse purchases only to have them sit there for several months. It also doesn't feel as enjoyable when you have to put so much effort into planning when you'll do it.
Ah that makes sense. It doesn't really sound like it's worth it tbh, like most have said OCing was fun mostly because you'd be able to get a decent machine even with a modest budget.
Yeah it makes total sense from a business perspective, but my question is why didn't it make business sense...
I'm thinking about doing this too for my scanner. Are you building your own aerial or purchasing? I get reception for EGLL where I am, but I have to be by the windows.
I see them now literally just fill it with some loose tarmac and pat it down with a spade. They need to cut out the hole (stop cracks from propagating), fill it and compress it properly before sealing the edges. There was a bloke not too long ago who started potting plants in them ...
It's really sad to hear they've started locking chips. I was definitely around for the whole 775 C2D/C2Q scene but haven't really looked in since then. What drove them to do this? Is it the same with AMD? Didn't seem to be much of an issue back in the day.
I can also vouch for this. We cancelled and they offered us 25% off TV to stay. Didn't take it and a few days before notice period was up they emailed us a 60% off offer.
It's really great that you have that mentality. I'm doing my PPL atm and I've met some pilots who seem really disenfranchised with their jobs (although to be fair they have mostly been with American carriers). What aircraft do you fly out of interest?
