Wii Tie Ratio at 8:1 in December

People in 2006, its not a bad little console but its not to everyones taste and has brought gaming to a whole range of people.

My sister has one and she has bought Zelda and Mario Glaxay last console she bought was an N64

Yeah Wii Play is counted as 8 games :D

lol

On a serious note in the month of December, due to shortages, bundles meant people buying games that they didn't want. I suspect that is why the games sold so well in December.

a) I don't think there is 8 decent games on the platform tbh. (Heck even the PS3 has more decent games out than Wii ;) )

b) I have been reliably informed that the average Wii owner cannot count upto 8.

c) Can't think of anything funny (it's late).

p.s. the reasons a)-c) part is a joke. I never mock the Wii, so leave me alone :p

Using me as a example i bought RE:UC, Links Crossbow Training (For the zapper), Mario Galaxy, Zelda and Metroid Prime 3 in december. Pretty much the only games worth owning since it's launch. (Appart from resi 4 but i have the whole resident evil collection on gamecube disks). After i am done with them i don't see me buying much till the new smash brothers or mario kart comes out. I might get a few of the party games but times like that never happen anymore. It's up the pub these days instead of playing computer games with your mates.

Has to be due to bundles, there aren't that many good games.

That's just a load of ********. :p

Of the 16 games I own for the Wii, I'll name 8 good games:

Super Mario Galaxy (which is about the best game I've played in a long time)
Rayman Raving Rabbids 2
Metroid Prime 3
Super Paper Mario
Mario Strikers Charged Football
Mario & Sonic at the Olympics
Zelda: Twilight Princess
Wario Ware Smooth Moves

And there are others that I don't own which are good games (RE4, for example). I'd say 4/5 of those titles are actually excellent, not just good.

I can well believe that 8 games were sold to every Wii - I added 3 to my collection at Christmas. As has been said, imagine all the Wii + 3/4 games bundles and the extra titles that would have been purchased (Wii Play). And who is to say that everyone bought 8 good games? There's a fair few sub-£25 (even £20) games that a lot of younger Wii gamers would have wanted.

Agreed. Most of the controls are ****. Just about every game fails to deliver. Mario and sonic at the olympics was such a let down. Crap controls, crap records saving system.

After about a month I'd have been happy to have sold it on for profit, but the Mrs who still only turns it on once a month wants to keep it.

No more heroes looks to be great and is slated for february release.

That is good.
I recently got a wii (well the girlfriend got it for herself) and it is great when I dont want a hardcore session on PGR4 or Mass Effect for example. And also when I want to play video games with her, the wii fills this spot nicely. FOr that reason, I think a wii is essential in any gamers collection. Now I just need to get started on Mario Galaxy!

That tie in ratio is only considering consoles sold in December.

While Nintendo's console certainly flourished in December, perhaps signaling the beginning of solid tie ratios to come, it should be noted that Wii's life-to-date software to hardware tie ratio is at 4.64, compared to 4.26 on PlayStation 3 (despite a much smaller installed base) and 7.0 on Xbox 360, according to NPD data.

Overall its still someway behind the 360

It's also not been out as long as the 360 though, and simple logic will tell you that the longer a console has been out, the higher its attach rate will be.

Not true. The attach rate is the number of consoles sold to the number of games sold, so as the console sells, the games have to sell at the same rate. The attach rate normally goes up after a while, stays static for ages and then starts to drop off as the price of the consoles gets cheaper and cheaper.

The reason the attachrate was so high was the fact that you couldn't buy one without at getting 4 games with it. Then everybody buys Wii Play for the extra controller and then finally a game they really want.

As for those people saying there are 8 great games on the Wii, I disagree with the 8 you say are great. 4 great games easily. Not 8. But thats just imho.
