I have the following gfx card:

Connect3D ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 256MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express)

Idle temperature is at 55degrees and has reached 92degrees during gameplay.

This has led to me hearing beeping noises from within the case and error messages saying it is running too hot. During gameplay sometimes the whole screen shows massive pixels and I have to restart the PC.

I have 1 fan at the front and 2 at the year of my case. I've removed the side panel to give it extra air but it only drops by like 1degree.

Any advice/solutions?

try getting ati tools to set the fan speed to 100% at all times and see if it makes a difference to the temps?

maybe get a new cooler for it accelaro S1 with a 120mm fan maybe a good idea?

I have an X1950XTX and the temperature's slowly been rising over the past few months - it's up to 70 degrees idle. It's not like the voltages are slowly increasing, so mine, like yours, probably just needs the dust cleaning out of it.

Also reapply even amount over the core with compound, when replacing the stock cooler there was only 50% of the core covered in compound.

Bit like this:-

Get some compressed air thru it to clean it out

Even if it is dust clogging it up, i would still advise you get the S1 cooler.

When i had my Sapphire 1950pro 256mb i was getting load temps in the mid 80s, after i installed the S1 with no fan on i was getting a max temp of 50 degrees, excellent piece of kit.
