hi i have a another thread about what new mobo to buy i have a few mobos that im looking at but want to know if the X48 is a better chipset than the P35 or P45
Thanks

X48 are the newer Intel Chipsets, X58 is around the corner though. With each new chipset coming out, theres always a hefty price to begin with. However ASUS's excellent P5Q-E, based on a P45 chipset has been known to compete very well with X48, plus the fact it can be up to £50 cheaper.

The review can be found at: http://www.cpu3d.com/motherboards

the x58 is socket 1366 only so that has no need to be mentioned here

a p45 is perfect if no crossfire is needed

You forgot x38

Depends on the board i think, a certain p45 board is not far behind the x48 cant remember which though maybe the maximus formula ?

Haven't used a P-series board but can certainly say i'm happy with my Maximus - really good strong overclocker.

I would just be annoyed knowing that if i did get a P-series board and ended up getting a 2nd GPU that one would not be as effective as the other..

I think it also depends on the game judging by a review I saw, some games where giving same performance, others were much better on X38/48.
