Amazing how hardware prices are changing so rapidly - presumably brought on by recent exchange rate changes.

I bought a system's worth of components earlier this week taking advantage of last week's and this week's sale and the 6% discount, I paid a total of £538.17 (including VAT and 3x postal charges).

Yesterday, I put all the items into 'my basket' and the total came to £580.29 - so already a sizeable saving!

Today, 'my basket' prices have updated themselves and the total cost is now £614.36! :eek::eek: Almost £80 more than I paid a few days ago.

Just goes to show another way the economic conditions are having a direct effect on us, the end user. :mad:

I don't go on the real rate I go on what the post office are giving, it is what I have always done so its easier for me.
Was 1.94 (dollars per £) when I went to early last summer.
Today it is 1.55 there abouts!
 
I know what u mean, I built a system not that long ago but specifically remember that the Q6600 was only around £100-£105 now its gone up by around £20-£30 :(
 
Since 27th September when it was $1.94 to the pound it has dropped to below $1.6 to the pound. This week alone it has dropped 10%.

Expect prices to keep rising for awhile............
 
There goes my xmas upgrade! Come on pound we want to spend u but u have to do better against the yankee dollar :mad: Also we'll be forced to take up the euro if the current trend continues (£1 = €1.24)!!

Although, the price of oil has dropped considerably meaning delivery costs for companies should reduce so maybe there will be some semblance of a balance here...

Nope I am in transport and diesel costs is a small proportion of delivery costs or the end product value. Lets say a container holds 2000 graphics cards and costs £300 in fuel to deliver. If fuel drops 10% you save £30 or 1.5 pence per graphics card. Can't see that offsetting a 10% increase due to exchange rates............
 
Yeah all the gfx prices have gone up over the last day or so. Glad i bagged a 3850 512 for 44 quid delivered from the sale :D
 
This is really worrying as i'm due to do a big upgrade half way through December which is only 7 weeks away. If the current prices keep risng then I shall just cancel my upgrade as i'm not going to pay inflated prices in a recession.

Our fuel supply is being cut down by opec so that will increase costs...cause they say they cant live off of the money they make, WTF when do millionaires get the right to say that!

All very true, I would expect fuel prices to increase again soon. I was just pointing out to anybody who beleives cheaper fuel = cheaper end products that the difference is minimal.

Also as said, if you shop around and find etailers with stock bought over a week ago then those prices haven;t gone up......yet. The 27th september was the best day to upgrade/buy a new system. You can still do well this week. Next week might cost you 10% more or even greater.
