I'm looking to book a skiing holiday for a bunch of lads, probably about 6 of us to france.

We're looking for somewhere with a big skiing area and a good night life that doesn't cost too much, (around £325ish per person).

Last year we went to Tignes which was quite expensive but good apart from that, I was just wondering if anyone had any reccomendations for resorts or ski areas.

Try Val Thorens - should be slightly cheaper than Tignes. The skiing area is bigger and there are quite a few clubs there - it's the destination for quite a lot of student trips.

I'll echo this, I'm booked up for there from 10th Jan (and have been there for the last 8 years now).

If you want cheap (but more than adequate) accomodation, that includes a full 3-valleys lift pass, try www.lechevalblanc.com. Much cheaper than booking a package. Get a flight to Chambery through www.Jet2.com, and then sort out your transfer when you get there (either coach all the way, taxi all the way, or train to Moutiers then bus to VT).

We're driving this time round to keep the cost even lower, and hopefully should have a laugh on the way up!

If you want any advice or have any questions, you can email me or add me to MSN :)

Going Alpe D'Huez soon and I cant wait :)

Is Alpe D'Huez any good? I'm going with uni in 2 weeks time, never been before but Le Tunnel sounds a bit different!

As long as the snowparks are open I should be happy though :)

I agree about Val T, went there last year with uni and it was immense! Skiing is fantastic - Trois Valleys done at Mach 10 was good fun, plus we had an airbag whilst there ;)

Nightlife is really good, except I was ill for 3 nights so missed out on most of that - I was told it was very good though

Same for Tignes - great skiing, you can nip over to Val D'Isere and laugh at all the ponce's with more money than talent, the link from Tignes to Val D Is cool "Expert Skiiers Only" sign put of a lot of newbs which allow you to pretty much flatline most of it - at least when you're not getting air out of the natural halfpipe lol

I'm back off to Alpe D'Huez for the second year in a row in Feb. From what i can gather though (through speaking to someone who has been around this time for the last 3 years) the snowparks aren't always open this early in the season so you may be out of luck.

+1

Just check when the holidays are this season as england/france and some other countires have some how managed to put half term down at the same time.

Does it need to be france? I went to Andorra earlier this year and it was real good! Tax free so things are reasonably priced. Loads of space / runs, took us a day to ski from Soldeu to Pasa and back again! oh and the snowpark was spot on!

I liked Alpe D'Huez

Going to Austria / St. Anton at the start of Jan cant wait :cool: then somewhere else in feb

Was just reading this ........ This November has seen the biggest snowfalls across the Alps for at least a decade! If you squint, you can the skier (left) at Val d'Isère enjoying yesterday's 30,000,000 m3 dump of fresh snow! Much more to admire with our ski webcams and snow reports. (IGLUSKI)

Hang on they're getting snow, I thought due to climate change snow was a thing of the past for the alps etc.

hmmm....doesn't bode well - homemade kickers might have to be the way of the week then methinks!

Did us well last year in Val Thorens when the parks were all being used for competitions which we were nowhere near good enough to compete in :p
