My gun shot tennis balls. Went for a personal distance record last time I went camping, 8 bean cans gaffered together with a drain pipe barrel, Zippo fuel followed by unleaded when I ran out. Managed to get about 450m out of it fired off the hip but it nearly knocked me off my feet first time I fired it :D

Trouble with liquid fuels is they're temperamental. When they go they definitely go but it's not very reliable :D
 
we made one of them a few years back, used air spray as a propellent... the police came and took it, they said it was classed as a shotgun and said if we made another one they would charge us :(

we need a video of the launcher being used at 260PSI!!!

also, what you need is some sort of valve that'd open all at once (like a butterfly valve) because 90% of the pressure is gone in the first few mm of opening the ball valve, which obviously reduces performance greatly! :D

Dunno, I can flick it open pretty quickly :D

The resevoir is pretty big for the size of the tube, I admit, but it makes for more comedy noises and a bit of scope for upgrading onto other toys.
 
Nope, car tyres only take 30-35psi. 260psi would blow it clean off the rim :D
 
my bike takes 120 without steal/wire beading :eek: and it scares me pumping it up :D have been around when ones blew up at that pressure and the noise is deafening
 
That is awesome! Wish I had the skills and know how to make things like this!

Have fun with it scaring off chav's from the top of your building :P
 
this has got me really wanting to make one actually. made one years ago from pvc but it didnt go as well as expected. want to experiment with greasing/oiling the barrel up to see if it will help distance much
 
Does anyone remember Clarksons' chat show where he made a kitchen mortar ? Basically he sprayed some hairspray into an old pasta container, loaded a potato into the end, and cooked it on a gas hob - very funny :)

didn't he follow that up with a turkey in a metel fliptop bin with petrol or something?

I know someone who does it with drainpipe and an aerosol, quite impressive at night :cool:
