i have been having some problems with my GTX280 & getting worse performance in some games than i got when i was using my 8800gt
also the capacitor squeal has got a lot louder in the past few weeks to the point where i cant put up with it so im trying to find a way to phone bfg

all i can find on their website is a email support contact

thanks :) ill try and locate him, i have a bit of a problem tho
because this is the only graphics card i have and i cant be without my system i was wondering if there might be a way to get a card from bfg to use while mine is being sorted? any ideas if they would do anything like that?

nope but if it comes to it ill just have to pick up a cheap pci express card

just check the stock at a local 2nd hand computer shop and they have a Radeon X600 for £8 so ill buy that as a spare for times like this :)

Its a good idea, Ive got an Nvidia 7300LE lying around from a previous upgrade and anytime I have problems I just pop it back in for a week or whatever. Useless for gaming, but means I can at least get on with some work / check forums and facebook :p

i suppose ill still be able to use a few emulators and old games too :)
now i just have to wait for Jeff or BFG to get back to me

does anyone know how long bfg take to reply to the webnote system they have? i know its the weekend but they say its 24/7/365 tech support

I was in contact with Jeff last week, got plenty of emails friday night, then nothing again until monday morning... guess he has weekends off

ahh ok :) thats fair because they do have a life too i suppose :p altho i think the world should pull together more to meet my needs :D

I think we need to clarify this 24/7 support thing, as there was a chap a few days back who didn't get a reply over the weekend as well, and he was maaaad. I suspect 24/7 may apply to something more specific, like phone support in US or something, who knows. Might be worth checking their website to see what to expect.

My GTX280 squeals loudly too, though just at insane FPS at the intros of games, though it's also a bit noticeable when scrolling in windows and I swear I can hear it when moving my mouse sometimes! At least it's not like that when gaming, though it's a bit annoying nontheless.

My card only reaches around 90 deg on furmark, and never much more than 80 in game. That's with an intake fan right in front of it though. Glad I have the warranty to fall back on should mine go the same way as yours.

Here's some more info for you, and anyone else with a BFG card. This is straight off their website:

Since the company’s start in 2002, BFG has been providing customers with our famous lifetime warranty and 24/7/365 tech support. As a company made up of gamers and PC enthusiasts, we know how important it is to keep you up and running with your new hardware purchase.

Our U.S.-based, expert technical support staff will answer your phone call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, every day of the year including holidays

Our goal is to answer your email requesting support within 24 hours or less

We answer phone calls on average in under one minute

Our support staff has the technical expertise to troubleshoot and resolve any issue you may be experiencing. If you are technical, they’ll get right to the issue at hand and won’t waste your time asking you simple questions. And if you’re not that technical; don’t worry! Our patient experts are really good and walking through basic steps to get your issue resolved as quickly as possible.

Some highlighted for emphasis.

So you shouldn't expect a reply within 24hrs, but they're at least trying..? The 24/7 applies to an answer to phone calls, but in the US only.

Moral of the story- read the small print!

The really need to remove their claims from all UK vended products then.
Typical US racist attitudes, if it happens in the US that's enough as the rest of the world is just a small collection of tiny islands off the US coast inhabited by nothing but primates.

to be honest i wasnt expecting a reply before monday anyway ;) i was just a bit confused because of what it said
its also written in big writing on the front of the box that the card came in so i can see how it might annoy some people :p

They should read the terms and conditions then!

Also you could probably call the US number and get through 24/7 as they say. There's no mention that the support is cheap.

small update, i just ran 3dmark vantage and my score seems pretty decent for my system  do you think there could be a fault with my card if its getting a good benchmark score?
i would hate to rma it only to find out there is nothing wrong with it
