***The Official iPhone 3.0 Thread***

Well it seems Beejive is the first IM to be online using push....

Shame i use IM+ :( hope it gets updated soon, im dying to test it out. Could somone with Beejive let us know if it's as good as all the hype?

Cheers. Oh and it's Snowing in the iPhone world ;)

Ah that's exactly what I'd be doing, forwarded my Vodafone number over. Then bought a piece of software for Symbian that forwards texts, left the phone plugged into a charger under the bed.

O2 PAYG isn't all that bad though, I'm going to miss the free Internet/Wifi hotspots :(

RE: Twitter, previously hadn't seen the point in it, and had slated it on here but after this episode I must admit I'm a convertee. For small snippit updates for relevant and useful information it's excellent. When it's used as a "what I did today" tool it's as pointless as the next Interweb-fad imo.

Lol i was the same too, and somehow got an extra 7 random people following me after talking about a bug in redsn0w.

Also i was told you can still use the WiFi hotspots if you just put in your o2 number when it asks for it, not sure how true that is tho, ill have to try

That's just blogging with RSS feeds!

The reason why people have started following you is because you've expressed an opinion that they agree with and you sound like you have more interesting things to say.
You're on the start of your own Web 2.0 marketing wave :p

Yep, 3GS only. It's stupid, but I imagine Apple put in an artificial restriction to seperate the 3G and 3GS a little more.

I'm trying to update using iTunes but i keep getting a stupid error.

"There was a problem downloading the software for the iPhone "My iPhone". The requested resource was not found".

Tried it on 10 machines on 3 different internet connections. Latest iTunes, Vista.

Any ideas? I also can't download it from the Apple Developer section as i am a developer which is really annoying.

Grr.

3G iPhone here
2G iPhone here

Then shift + restore and bingo!

I'm getting annoyed with the phone going landscape if you tilt it just slightly. It seems to take a long time to go back too.

I saw your post and thought mine is probably the same but it had to be tilted quite a lot before it rotated....perhaps yours is faulty m8.:(

Be interesting to see whether a lot are like that. ie.mine is the unusual one and it's not a fault at all. I'm sure though that isn't the usual though.

So I've got a question, how does the spelling checker work, when I send emails/text sometimes it seems to recognise the word is incorrectly spelt, sometimes it doesn't!

What am I doing wrong ;)

I think they have, and i dont advise anybody to do it. A friend of mine set his up today using the "config file" method. He had a call from O2 this afternoon to advise him he has been caught tethering without the add-on. He argued the toss about he already has unlimited data, e.t.c. but simply put they said stop it or else you will be charged for the data used. Word of warning.

I honestly don't care if you believe me or not, why would i lie? Do you really think that o2 would be that naive not to put some kind of monitoring in place? If you want to go ahead and do it then fine, but i don't fancy your bill much next month - not that i agree with the charging anyway, i think its ludicrous and without doubt Ofcom will be all over them for sure.

"However, it's on a case by case basis, and as yet we've never had to ring anyone. We'll see how it goes, but hopefully people realise they would be doing something we don't recommend."
