Recently I've been having a few issues with my Astra. First off was that the range computer would not reset after a refuel and kept saying 0 miles remaining. Then every now and then I'd get a puff of blue smoke when starting the car. Now there is an almighty squealing when turning left at low speeds, can really hear it in the car parks.
I just hope they can experiance the faults when its in tomorrow. Am I right in guessing the blue smoke could be the turbo on its way out?
 
at least your car lasted more than 6 hours like my mats Astra. Electris went and the car wouldnt start. Then when it did the lights wouldnt work unless you had the heating on and then it decided to go into limp mode and we had to push it back to the dealership. He then got another brand new one the week after and had no problem since

Hopefully the seals just need renewing and a bearing needs replacing. Hopefully it hasn't buggered itself.

i know it is thats why i shared it. do you want to narate it and make it into an audio file so you can stick it on your iPod and listen to it on the way to work on the morning

do they suffer from bad understeer or is that top gear talking bull just wanting to brain wash you into buying something daft

Its a front wheel drive car with 240bhp, it suffers from understeer but not as bad as TG made it out to be.
 
Its rubbish mate, there is also very very little torque steer too. Its a bit skittish over bumpy roads though.
 
i guess they always make things out worse than they actually are. I went to a Rolling road day last year and this guy had an Alfa 147 GTA and he said that it wasnt as bad as TG made it out to be and it made a lovely sound

ive always liked the look of the Astra VXR but dont think i'll be able to own 1 cause the world would have ran out of oil by then

Taking top gears word for it is hardly gospel either. Especially when clarkson "reviews" a car, all he seems to care about is how fast he can rake it around their track and nothing more.

Completely agreed, it's just expected of an owner to not say "yeah my car is crap"
 
OK got the car back this afternoon and the squealing was the shield behind the front disk catching. They couldn't find any fault reguarding the blue smoke, I guess I'll have to capture it on my camera or something.
