PSP Go UK pricing revealed......WTF !!!11!!1!

Well its now a month till launch, and still no news about putting umd games on to a psp go (at a price or instore or trade it or however they do it).

Very close to cancelling the preorder (even if i do have it at £180 with points back too)

The problem they have at the moment is not every PSP game has made its way to the PS Store, so even if they were to provide a UMD trade in service I can't see them being able to offer every available PSP game by launch.

Maybe there could be some kind of scheme where you take your UMD's to a local video game store, or you send them away, and in return you get the equivalent value to spend on the PS Store? :)

Wouldn't it have to be store specific with reciepts and what not....

Would be a nightmare for the consumor and then people won't be happy with Sony.

I could see a patch for the psp slims that reads the umd that is in the disc slot and generates a code for that game. You then use that code to download the game to your psp go.

or you keep your psp slim until they come up with a way to transfer your games over.

I guess you're right. There must be some way of getting around this all though. At least I hope so for Sony's sake. Personally I'm not that bothered about having to re-purchase games, they don't cost a bomb and the good ones are well worth the price. But I can see that Sony will need to get some system in place, still I think that the Go! will sell like hot cakes in Japan.

Easy to exploit...? I'm sure some board person will work out a way of generating codes even before a system like that got released.

I can see the point in the trade in but what if i want to keep my normal psp as well?

Then you would have to download it on that as well; PSN accounts can be active on up to 5 machines at a time so any games you purchase could be loaded onto both your existing and new PSP.

There will be no trade-in service, It's the 2nd hand games market that messed things up for the PSP. Who buys new PSP games? If it was that simple to trade in then you would be better buying a game 2nd hand for £10 and trading it for the download rather than go on PSN and pay £29.99 for the same game. It would be a huge scheme and cost a lot to run. Staff, games getting 'lost', terms and conditions etc. and for what? to defer customers from paying £30 to download a file from your own online store.

The PSPGO is probably as expensive as it is because it costs a lot to make. I don't think sony would be making that much money from each one, not to begin with. Selling old PSP games for £30 will be a goldmine for sony.

Looks like existing PSP owners will get 3 free games if they buy to a PSP Go and have at least 1 UMD game.

So technically i could borrow my mates old psp with a game, register it and get myself 3 free games for a psp go?

Sony drops UMD > Go plans

Once again, Sony says one thing and delivers another...

Disappointing, but not entirely unexpected :(

I can see Sony releasing the PSP2 without a UMD drive, and (very effectively) killing the 2nd hand market entirely. If they stop production of the PSP-3000s then I can see the price of 2nd hand PSPs (non-GOes) rocketing.
