I have decided to buy a 4870 and am trying to choose between either a Sapphire or XFX.
Which is better to buy and what are the differences if any?

Thanks.

The XFX that looks like THIS can run hot.

Obviously, the hot air is exhausted into your case, so you need good case airflow.

As for the Sapphire, don't know about it - I got the XFX so i'm just going by my experience.

howdy all, i just purchased the xfx few days ago, anyone any idea what delivery times are like or even when they get this card in stock or how often???

Unfortunately I do not qualify for free delivery, so for me it would cost £105.98 inc + £8.25 P&P= £114.23

I can buy it elsewhere for £109.00 delivered, saving over £5.

Not a bad price, but not the best.

Have you looked at the 5770? It's about £25 more expensive (excluding delivery) but the performance is the same as the 4870, the power consumption is lower and it has dx11 support.

I thought about it, but once the price rises above the £125+ mark I may as well start looking at adding a bit extra for the 5850.

I am hoping to run Xfire 5870's once the prices drop so am buying a cheap card for now.

Anyway, I just spoke to Overclockers customer service and I will say I was extremely impressed with the service they offered so ordered the card from here.

I have the XFX xXx, its awesome but runs hot and if you put the fan up to high speed its so loud I am scared its going to launch my PC into space.

I read a couple of reviews where the 4870 outperformed the 5770 so it didn't seem worth the extra cash for the slight differences.

I doubt that the 5770 will perform too well in DX11.

Performance wise their essentially the same, the major differences would be the dx support and the power consumption.
