hi guys

Got a DG834GT, used to be a sky one but now flashed using DGTeam Firmware, using O2, internet working fine, all settings ok, but every morning when i come to use my iphone to check my Gmail, i cant access any sites.

i can access the router config page where the router status says connected etc etc, but just wont let me on to any sites, confirmed using PC aswell which is wired.

so i have to do a reboot from the config page and then it all works fine.

this has been happening for last 4 days, no idea why its happening, ive read about these routers overheating and i felt the router casing and it is very hot.

im going to try standing it up instead of it being horizontal.

any other thoughts?

This has been happening to me for the last couple of months. I am using a Netgear DG834PN and was with Be ISP. Just changed over to o2 a few days ago and it seems to be fine now.

Strange thing for me was i could still log into steam and wow but just couldn't access anything http until the router was restarted. Maybe a problem with their DNS i dunno.

just read a huge thread over at thinkbroadband forums on this, loads more people haging same issue, no definite fix for it yet though.

Was your Netgear working okay before? Mine was good for a couple of years at least.

I bought it used off the bay, didn't cost me much so I wasn't bothered.

I was running DGTeam firmware with the SNR tweaked. Lost about 1mb going back to the O2 modem lol.

yeh there is a defo issue with the netgear routers and O2 isp.

i could get to the router gui but have no access to the net, although it did say it was connected and lights were flashing as usual.

a quick fix is to log into the gui (if you can) , go to basic settings and just hit apply, within a few seconds internet is working.

there is also another fix too which you manually apply the fix to your router by logging in to telnet via the command prompt and typing in the below 3 lines, one by one:

echo 0 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/neigh/default/ucast_solicit

echo 0 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/neigh/all/ucast_solicit

echo 0 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/neigh/nas0/ucast_solicit

ive done this yesterday and all seems to be ok, no routing issues thus far, where as before i had no net access twice a day guaranteed!

Note you need to apply the telnet commands above if you reboot the router as it won't save them

What version are you using?

I found theres a lot of issues with the official 1.02.18 firmware and anything based on it but the .16 official seems to be fine - and the V1.02.16 - DGTeam Rev. 0848 version works mostly fine - tho I've had it "lose" internet connectivity a couple of times - but I really need the SNR tweak.
