Haha! that is so awesome that it worked. Congrats.

Saved you some dosh :)
Quality, am loving that, nice one R420LA6X2/4MNA.

Cheers guys,I must admit however that the cooling fan on the card is much louder now than it was before I dismantled it :o so its going back in the box for use as a spare. - I probably put it back together wrong... :o :D

Not to worry, I often wondered if this oven cooking thing would work, I could see the principle of heating up dry solder joints etc but was not convinced tbh.

I can't say how surprised I was that A: I dismantled it without breaking it and B: I managed to put it back together again without doing the same!!! and C: above all else, it seems to have worked perfectly!

So I have an unexpected result!

Tbh I thought this would be more fun than simply binning it,and I'd looked on it as a daft way to make sure it was dead, completely! - I was initially quite disappointed when I saw no smoke nor could see no signs of melting and there was no popping or cracking coming from the oven whilst it was cooking :D - the last thing in all honesty I expected was a working card at the end of my "Cooking with Paul" session.... :D

Be wary in the extreme if you see me advertising an 8800GTS in the Members Market though..... ;)

Nice one lad,

Glad to hear it worked!! Love the pics as well, wish you had taken up my idea of the 50gal drum, grill and petrol though lol :)

Good Job :D

Haha can't actually believe this works, that is awesome. Well done R420LA6X2/4MNA on getting it working again.

GJ n getting it working again but whats with all the 8800 dieing all of a sudden? seems like there is 1 going every few days on here.

Nice one mate, glad it worked for you, like I said in my previous post, it's a hit or miss as to whether this trick will work..

I think it is the cold weather!

Machines starting from baltic and racing to the high temps we know and love will be putting just a touch of extra stress on the famously poor solder nVidia used the first year after moving from lead solder.

My XFX 8800 GTS XXX died last night... it goes in the oven tonight!
