AMD® Phenom™ II Overclocking Thread

zoomee . u may need to up the ram voltage alittle more for 1600. example, if stock voltage for 1600 is 1.65v up it to 1.7v..

it worked for me. my stock voltage for 1600 7-7-7-20 is 1.7v and i upped it to 1.75v and it made it stable..

Martini1991 , upping the vcore sometimes does more arm than good, so just be aware of that mate,

Evening all I have just started on my 1st ever OC :) on my 955BE wish me luck, do i need to turn off "cool & quite" when trying to OC? whats the best way to post images on here of my results? photobucket or image shack?

thanks

I'd say keep cool & quiet on, it drops the multi and vcore when not under load, to keep power consumption and temps down.

I've heard tell that it can make your overclock unstable, but I haven't managed to make it unstable when I overclocked my 965.

no point in going over 2.6 on the nb it seems to be the sweet spot . was in a article i posted earlier.

guru your nb voltage seems a bit on the high side for me :D

amd says: "In general the CPU-NB clock should be at least three times the Memory clock (example in case of DDR3-1600: 3 x 800MHz = 2400MHz NB clock)."

CPU-NB voltage is safe upto 1.5v

Im having a few issues with my OC, i have set the multiplyer to 18x in the bios but when i boot up cpuz is showing 800mhz with a 4x multiplyer? have i missed something?

this is the thing i have set my multi to 18x but its showing as only running at 800mhz with a 4x multi i am only browsing the web not tried any gaming yet but i just wanted to see if my machine would boot up and run with the CPU set at 3.6ghz which it does buts its not showing that speed

O right cool so if i was to turn off C&Q it would show my cpu at 3.6ghz which i clocked it to. I will try a cpu testing benchmark i hear most people using a piece of software called prime is that the best software to use? im running 64bit windows so was not sure if i need a 64bit app
