I fed in the scores as they were today after only 30 minutes play, and by that time, Freakitchen was in the lead, with seven correct forecasts including four correct scores. What was a lot worse, from my point of view, Nursie, who'd shown last week that he was making a great spurt for the finish, had dramatically reduced the gap between first and second overall.

However, all changed after that, many more goals went in, Freakitchen lost more than half of his fifteen points, and thankfully Nursie lost a few too.

So for the final week of the season, it's [ASSE]Hinchy who claims top of the week with ten points - we don't mention who else got ten. BaZ87 and The Pat were with me at two points behind, and then a whole load on seven. Although quite a few managed six correct forecasts, [ASSE]Hinchy was the only person who got more than one scoreline, and that included one of the high scoring games, so very well done.

Now for the final table for the season. Thanks almost entirely to a week when I got six correct scorelines in only the third round of the competition, I managed to claim the champion's spot with a margin of 23 points. Nursie in second place and Miguél also get automatic entry into the Champions League stage, and just one point further behind Stoddy gets into the Champions League qualifier. Into the Europa league go BaZ87 and Freakitchen, but then we have a dead heat for the third Europa league place between Big Kev and HangTime. Perhaps a penalty shootout, or maybe a game of tiddlywinks to sort it out.

And one final thing. I've been running this competition now for just a few weeks short of four years, and feel it is now time to hand over to someone else. To my knowledge, two people ran it before me, maybe even more. So hopefully someone will step forward in time for the new season, as I have every intention of joining in and trying to retain my crown.

Cheers for all that Howard, and for all your efforts in general. It's been an enjoyable season and this league just provides that extra bit of interest, particularly for those of us too tight / sensible to place bets on this sort of stuff!

Will struggle to replace you - especially the promptness and detail of your results, but I'd be more than happy to carry this on next year provided there's some interest! My spreadsheet will need some work to work out points as the games are being played, and I will definitely need some help with the results for next year, but am sure we can sort both :)
