ATI 10.7

for the people who have "idle clock sky high when overclocked"

easy fixable just go into:
C:\Documents and Settings\<your username>\Local Settings\Application Data\ATI\ACE\Profiles

edit the profile in notepad,

heres what i have (though i have a 4870x2)
<Feature name="CoreClockTarget_0">
<Property name="Want_0" value="30000" />
<Property name="Want_1" value="75000" />
</Feature>
<Feature name="MemoryClockTarget_0">
<Property name="Want_0" value="30000" />
<Property name="Want_1" value="90000" />

the "30000" represents idle clocks at 300mhz, and "90000" is 900mhz 3d clocks

:)

have a play about with it

Are you running crossfire? If so, reduce your AA to 2x.

I get the same issue on my 4870X2 if I use more than 2x AA.

Hopefully this'll finally get fixed in the next driver release :)

no im only running a single 5850. i use all setting maxed out except for AA which i have on 2xAA

Idle clocks were sky high if you overclocked

Wasn't this to fix the screen flickering you got if you used more than one monitor or a 120hz monitor? Fixed for me anyway (without having to make my own 2d profiles like before)

for somr reason i get artifacts on the snowblind level on bad company 2 and one of the levels near the end. not sure if i got them in the previous driver but ill check it when the 10.7 is released.

i suppose they are more like large black pixles than artifacts.

Wait, this is a driver issue? I spent so long trying to get my overclock stable because it kept artifacting and then I gave up. I'm pretty sure that was the level I was testing it on lol

Update (July 21, 2010, 12:02am): ATI's Catalyst Maker has now publicly gone on record to state that Catalyst 10.7 will not be released today, but will be releasing before the end of month. Our original source has also reaffirmed the statement with a small update. As a few users have pointed out, Catalyst 10.3 was released in March, Catalyst 10.4 was released in April, Catalyst 10.5 was released in May and Catalyst 10.6 was released in June. For years, ATI's driver development team has been releasing monthly driver updates consistent with a pattern where the numbers after the decimal point in the driver version denote the month of release. In this case, the 7 in Catalyst 10.7 signifies that the drivers will be released in July, and therefore ATI will have them available for download within the next week and a half.
