I had a 5870 at 1000 core and it was a great card but compared to a 480 at 800+ core the 5870 was well beaten, dips below 30 fps with the 5870 is long gone with the 480. Noticed that game loading times where lots of textures are being loaded in to vram are quick with a 480 as well.
lol. Not as powerful as the 480, granted, but thats the trade off I want to make for lower heat and power consumption. My 4870X2 turned my room into a furnace so I don't want to go back to that. Obviously because of the higher temps the fan was also very loud untill i mapped a profile.
