Does anybody know what the difference is between these 2x monitors and which is the better model?

The only differences i can make out are the ms, dimensions and weight..

Samsung P2450H 24" 2ms // 578.0mm x 430.0mm x 190.0mm
Samsung B2430H 24" 5ms // 582.0mm x 448.0mm x 197.0mm

If this is the case, why would the B2430H be more expensive with the lower ms time and larger frame? Also, why would the B2430H be rated on PCMonitors.Org top 10 instead of the P2450H (is it possible the P2450H was released in 2009 excluding it from the list?).

Logic points me to the cheaper 2ms P2450H but i cant help but think there is a valid reason why the B2430H is more expensive so i'm reluctant to make a decision yet..

Any help appreciated :)

You are spot on with the reason it wasn't in te top 10 for 2010. ;) This question has been addressed before but there is no harm in doing so again. The B2340L, from what I have tested, offers slightly better whites and better colour tone using default settings or indeed the all imporant 'gamma mode 2'. After a little tweaking there is very little between them - the responsiveness is also very simlar despite what the figures may suggest. I would go for the one you prefer the look of or can get a better deal on. :D

Thanks for the input, as always useful and helpful ;).

As a heavy gamer would you say it's a better decision to go for the 2ms screen? I'm not the type to be picky on image quality as much as I am about reaponsiveness. I'm leaning towards the 2ms one so far.

Problem is that the 2ms and 5ms suggests the absolute best case pixel response time. These are achieved using 'overdrive', which does itself lead to a different type of 'overdrive trailing' - the effects of this are illustrated here. The silhouette occurs regardless of response time and has more to do with the algorithms themselves (which are very similar for both Samsungs). The average pixel transition time will also be very similar for both monitors when overdrive is not used or is more lightly used. Basically; most colour transitions that occur will be beyond the quoted figures. I wouldn't base a buying decision on the quoted best case response times but there are plenty of reasons to go for the P2450H. :)
